Off to meet some buddies further down the West coast of France next weekend so had to clean the squashed insects off the screen and bodywork and chain oiler splashes off the lhs of the Glee.  :grin:

(Easy work after changing the oil/filter on my car and sweeping my chimney which included the removal of hornets' nest and a score of dead bodies).  :shock:

I hope you weren't trigger happy with the ACF50 like I was.  I unknowingly managed to get it on my brake discs.  Thought it had ruined the pads but after heating them up with a bit of hard braking they are fine.

Two wheel slide going round a bend covered in wet mud (was like a lake). Fortunately was very low speed and 'the doctor's dangle' kept the bike OK.

Watch out for all the farm crap everywhere.

Took her over 50,000 miles this morning (just shy of 13,500 for me) Soooo glad I got a Glee - though, judging by the increased grumbling, it's time for a bit of valve checking methinks...

Just another annual service, but I've now filled every stamp in the book. Not based on the mileage going up fast, but just based on owning the thing for 11 years.

No, learnt from this group when I first used acf 50 five years ago to make sure to stay away from brakes, other wise I just heat the tin in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes then spray on everything.....5 years of every day riding rain and shine and no rust anywhere....real happy... :lala: :lala: :grin:

Just finished the install of a Denali Soundbomb horn, wow it's loud!

Bought the mounting bracket and wiring kit, it fits nicely inside the front right fairing. A tidy job.

I've had the fuel tank, etc off and on the Glee a few times now, but still struggle disconnecting the fuel pipe.

Just received my new brake pads today ... working Saturday so Sunday I'll be replacing them and give the calipers a quick clean.  :fix:

Hello Chaps

Its been a while since I last posted. Bit of an impulsive decision made today, traded in my 2007 Wee for a 2011 model ....... time to start re-farkeling... Just got to wait for it to be delivered from Sunny Blackpool after they service and fit some heated grips to it... patience they say is a virtue.....

I have no doubt ill be pestering all and sundry once again. Still very happy with the VStrom though

New EBC pads fitted to the rear and gave the calipers a quick clean while I was down there..

Purchased some snow foam from Halfords with my trade card and saved £1.50  :lala:

Fitted oem handguards. Whoever wrote the instruction leaflet wants shooting. Nowhere does it seem to mention binning half the internals when you fit the new screw and end spacer, it gives instructions for right and left at the same time rather than one first then t'other, the drawings are small and vague  - a hell of a sight more complicated than the actual task they are describing!

Fitted Denali mini Soundbomb horn and went for a BikeSafe-London course. It was a great fun riding with cops :)

Today nothing but yesterday I sold it. A very decent fellow bought it off me and I'm glad it went to a good home. He now needs a few refresher classes on a 125 before he can ride the DL1000 as he has not ridden nigh unto 20 years or so.

Good wash and complete dry. Good coat of polish, acf50 liberally sprayed and acf50 grease on nuts, bolts and fixings. All ready for the crappy winter months. Oh and battery maintance unit fitted.

Just checked the range of my 2103 650 strom, Filled on center stand with regular unleaded to the normal full level, ridden normally with a mixture of commuting, and fast a roads , fuel consumption was showing 61.2 mpg. low level warning /1 bar started flashing at 195 miles and bike ran out at 262 miles.   so pretty good,

Not today, but Monday, finished fitting some Ring air horns. (Well, used the Ring compressor but used some old Fiamm trumpets as they were a little bit shorter than the Ring ones, and are made of thicker plastic). Spade connections into the switched live and negative for the original horn, then threaded the wires back to the relay and compressor which is mounted behind the RHS side panel. They're painfully loud and should be enough to be heard by dopey drivers on the motorway above the radio. Close call on M25 on Friday, air horns bought Friday afternoon. Very awkward threading the wires and tubes as far away from the engine as possible, but well worth the effort as the difference in volume is like comparing a gnat to Concorde.

It was a couple of weeks ago now, but having discovered that the front sprocket was knackered and had more broken teeth than a prizefighter who lost his way, I then miscounted the number of teeth and replaced it with a 17 tooth one instead of the 15 tooth standard.

Having worried that putting the standard 15 tooth one in would mean I needed to take a link out of the chain and would change the gearing drastically, I had no trouble fitting the seventeen tooth one. It makes for gloriously long first and second gears, but top gear is definitely an overdrive and only really comfortable over 50mph. With the old sprocket it had pulled from any revs in top, but now it's snatchy below 3-4,000 rpm in top. 5th gear is the same as top was, so it's no great problem. I'm mostly driving in town, but it feels like I have to change gear only half as often. I changed the oil as well. Next time I might clean her as well  :lala:
