I rarely watch anything that isn't streamed (Netflix etc.) or if I have to watch something from a broadcast channel, I record it and fast forward through the ads.

Apparently the very first tivo boxes in the USA had the facility to stop recording at a commercial break and start when the show started again. This was ditched, presumably after considerable pressure from the ad lobby.

A few years ago I was approached by a company who were developing software to make ads embedded so that they couldn't be paused. :dl_smiley_banghead:

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading - Henry Youngman.

I may have covered this before in one of my well thought out, reasonable rants  :smirk:

What the feck does 'regular' mean as a unit of measurement? I accept that small, medium and large are also subjective, but when there are three size options available they are pretty self explanatory.

In fact, the scenario that generated this rant was even worse. A cup of Coffee, Regular or Large  :icon_exclaim:

Regular?  ###  :violence-smack:

"Regular" is what you order when you are buying a round and "Large" is what you ask for when someone else is buying a round.

Maybe you should ask for an 'irregular' coffee?

I tend to find things sold as either Small, Medium, Large or Regular and Large.
You don't tend to find Small, Regular and Large.

S, M, L are self explanatory (within reason)
But
Regular is a small and Large is larger than a Regular but smaller than a Large sold in places that do a S,M, L.  :dl_hyperhysteria:

Think chip shop-  buy a 'Regular' and it should be part of a kid's meal and Large is a Medium everywhere else.
Stingy bastards!

I'm surprised "Regular" got through the Yankism filter! .... isn't it 'murican for a normal-sized fancy coffee?

The new way to boast about how warm it is (or how cold) is the use of a decimal point! Who is going to know the difference between 4.2° and 4.5°? They do it on the telly and radio forecasts. Also the use of colour. In Winter anything above 10° is shown to go yellow to orange to red at 20° but in the Summer it's 30° for red. And just for good measure stupid statements like "hottest February night in 5 years........" yes, 5 years and always another so called 'record' for just about every day of the year!

Short memories or what......  :dl_soapbox:
So how's it going so far then?

Legitimised designer mongrels.
Labradoodles, puginese, shipoos, sprockers, etc., and the most annoying - the cockapoo. If you're spelling it like that, surely it's a cross between a cockatoo and whatever, not a cocker spaniel. Just get a proper bloody dog.

Surley, the term 'Regular' is a measure of time and not dimension. A clock is regular as is Haley's comet. The terms 'Regular' and 'Frequent'  are often misused, although in this example my wife knows the difference.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.
