To cap the light thing TLP, a sub moan about toss pots who haven't sussed that day time running lights do not switch on the rear lights.

Sent using carrier pigeon...

Political compromise. The Southern countries note DRL's camoflage brake and other signal lights against a sea of now single level illumination at dusk. The Northern countries note anything is better in fog than a white car with only the drivers phone screen to mark it out. They split the difference and while **** for everyone avoided another three years delay and taxpayer funded trips frogside.

If the Landrover suspension pump is a WABCO electric compressor, accept you bought a 40-grand car and take it the dealers. Its thermal protection is in the controller in the dashboard. Run it for 45 seconds because the problem is the control side and it'll burn out. When the dealers do this they hide the evidence and quietly order another one.

When did "of" replace "have".
Such as :- "blah blah blah and I would of gone to the manager and complained....." and
"we should of seen a different doctor .... "

What the heck is 'feck'??
Reminds me of when the kids were young and we were in Courtmacsherry in Co Cork and the local kids were having a disco - hundreds of them -singing to "Living Next Door to Alice" but changing the words to ""next door to Alice, who the f**k is Alice?"  :lala: The locals seemed to think it quite normal  lol

Also proves the United Nations has a sense of humour. Who the feck allocated tree-five-tree as a dialling code to Ireland?

Do not let NPower give you a smart meter!

The installer isn't a real Gas fitter, so once he's stuffed up your heating they just say Ooops, jump in their nice warm van and **** off. I lost all day yesterday waiting for a lovely man from British Gas to fix a blown boiler circuit board. Imagine the fun if you'd had half a day off work  and didn't have the insurance   :bawl:

If gets better. The smart meter shows the ripping barstewards have quietly popped us on their highest tarriff. If I switch suppliers there is a good chance the ***ing meter will go dumb and we can start all over again!

Advice then, ditch NoPower, get yourself on a decent tarriff, let the new supplier install their meter and have the seventh emergency service on speed dial!

Been having trouble with starting the Varadero for a few weeks now...the HISS immobiliser won't turn off and allow me to start the bike (basically)

Its been to the garage three times already!!
First time
They cut some new keys for me with new chips in - didn't fix it so went back again.(also couldn't get the steering lock to work and this is when I found out its because of an aftermarket lock barrel that wasn't long enough to allow the steering lock to work!)
Second time
Chip reader was changed and that should have been the end of it, still having the odd bit of trouble so took it back again just to have a quick chat about it etc....couldn't get the bugger started when I came out so ended up leaving it there leading to the third time.
Third time
New lock barrel - new keys - new ignition switch. I was hoping this would be the end of it!!

Came out of work tonight, had to spend an hour and a half trying to start the bugger....  :rain: finally it started after the Mrs had to come to the rescue with jump leads (because at this point I'd worn the battery out). got 50 yards up the road AND THE  :dl_soapbox: COMPLETELY CUT OUT ON ME  :dl_hyperhysteria: so, charged it up again - back to the original problem - HISS won't turn off....another hour later I just packed up, admitted defeat, secured the bike and came home.

Ever since I started driving I said I wanted to stay away from anything with any kind of electrical devices on that could go wrong, then decided I was being a mad arse and should just move on with the times and when I do...I get a big kick in the groin for all my efforts.  :icon_batterup:

Thinking I might ask for my Strom back  :bawl:

Victor Meldrew moments

As some may know I recently bought a Wee ....

The DVLA sent the logbook but when I looked at it I found they have mangled the name of my bungalow and turned a one word title into two words.
For example "OAKDENE" became "OAK DENE".

I don't believe it .....

While I don't care about this little error I am sure others such as my insurance company will. So I amended the recently received registration certificate by highlighting the incorrect wording and completing section 6 and signing section 8 as per their instructions, in section 5.

Today I received two envelopes from the DVLA. First one I opened was a replacement Registration document with my address shown correctly.

The second letter contained a cheque for £68.33 for outstanding balance of road tax and a note acknowledging that I was no longer the registered keeper.

I don't believe it ...

Fortunately I am still fiddling with it and am not yet ready to ride it. That is good because I could well have been out on it today and could have been "pinged" by ANPR and bounced by a patrol car.

How lucky that I don't ride my bike to work .... as this is going to take quite some while to sort out.

I wonder if they have a phone number .....

Re the above ...
I checked the DVLA web site and can see the bike has had no road tax since 16 Jan 2017.

Also the number of previous owners has gone up by one ( assume the transaction was from me to me).

I found a phone number that seem to charge 12p per minute (So that'll be a few quid before I can get through to the right person and another sqillion quid while I wait for them to admit it is their fault and agree to put it right.

Meanwhile as it's not taxed or on a sorn I am in fear of being consigned to the naughty step.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Saturday evening I banged off a complaint via the DVLA web site and had decided to wait their suggested three working days before resorting to shouting down the phone at them and then going through all that abuse and searing and then having to let the police in my home so they can give me a recorded caution etc.

As it turned out they responded PDQ (this morning).

Thank you for your email received on 21/1/17. Your email reference number is 4074006.
I have passed your details on to the relevant department with 2 requests.
I have instructed the department to issue a replacement V5C Registration Certificate displaying the correct amount of registered keepers.
I have also requested that the vehicle tax be re-instated on to the vehicle record. Please destroy the cheque, you are not required to return it to the DVLA. Please do not cash the cheque.

Please allow up to 4 weeks for delivery of the replacement V5C and if not received within this time please contact us.
You are fully covered to use the vehicle now that this matter has been reported.

I'll keep you all posted ......
