I fitted a new front tyre. Another Roadsmart, last one must have done 8,000 miles so mustn't grumble.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Had the original fluids replaced with something more current.
Front brake fluid, rear brake fluid, fork oil.  Been in there for 7 years.

Also I gave an oil change, will do spark plugs and air filter at a later time, will also check value clearances probably over Christmas
Life is short - You have to enjoy it on a Wee-Strom!

Had the day off yesterday so went for a very wet and cold mooch around the local area, moved in September but have had hardly any time to actually just go of for a nice long bimble.

Despite the constant drizzle, was a thoroughly enjoyable ride!

Fitted one of Bigpie's auxilliary fuse boxes. Great piece of kit and really neat solution taking the switched live from the plug under the tank. Would recommend without hesitation and half the price of the competition. Excellent service and communication from Bigpie as well. :ty:

Just fitted a PD Oiler, connected the timer to the fuse box. Not had chance to ride the bike yet.

Had a new chain and sprockets fitted (yes I know,  I should have done it myself,  but life's been a bit mental). The old ones had done 24000 miles - not bad.  But what a difference - so smooth! !!!

Picked up from 14,500 mile full service. New read pads and adapting RAM handlebar mount, £268 all in from the excellent and trustworthy Dave at DTech motorcycles (behind the petrol garage in Postcombe). Amazing what fresh oil does for the engine! Unfortunately he confirmed my suspicions that the chain and sprockets need replacing. Not good for 14.5k but I can only assume that during the 2k the original owner had it he didn't look after the chain. Should last 20 - 25k (Scotoiller fitted at 3,000 miles)?  Heavy duty DID kit on order....

PS there are spacers inside the handlebar clamp so its integrity isn't compromised.

Put a centre stand on. It's the Heed one: lifts the bike very easily but when taking off, the springs don't seem to be angled right to pull the stand up with force, just sort of glides up (not really a problem, just saying).

Got it ready for another Scottish winters worth of commuting by pulling up the chain, filling the scotoiler and continuing my "no wash" policy.

Rode in the rain! No probs. Just keep spraying on the WD40 and take the corners not so horizontal   :handgestures-fingerscrossed: and the scene is set for winter riding. Good old V-Strom, the all-the-year-round bike.  :thumb:

Fitted a Heed engine guard to protect that very prone oil filter on my 2012 650. Bloody solid lump of Alu really well engineered. That plus the (Heed) crash bars and centre stand (plus AirFlow screen, Monokey top box and soft panniers) and it's just about done. Just a mudguard extender and 5v USB socket to go.
