well there was a missive deep puddle in the corner of the car park in work. Used to ride through it when I got to work to wash the crud off. but the buggers cleaned the drains out last week, now I'm back to the 2ltr bottle of water and a sports drinking bottle cap to wash her down.  :angry-tappingfoot:

I couldn't resist showing her off!   - She might be standard in spec, but she's not standard to me!

Standard? Look at my crappy screen.

The white is cool on the Strom, I could have lived with that colour scheme.

Wouldn´t like to bother you with this question but comes to my eyes with curiosity that most of you ride Vees without ABS.

Bearing in mind UK is quite rainy, do you feel safe without this aid system??? isn´t so necessary as I thought???

Here in Spain is different on weather issues of course....

Thanks a lot in advance

I'm on a Wee without ABS and I've never thought that I needed it once, even in some pretty hairy situations. I guess I will change my story when I lock up the front and go face down in the road. I've caused plenty of rear lockups, the Wee does a little fishtail and you simply need to let go of the rear brake and all is back to normal, it's very stable and forgiving in these situations. I've never had the fronts lock on me before and I think I'm more inclined to swerve than to try and brake hard anyway. Let's hope I don't have to eat my words  :shy:

Maybe when I buy another Wee someday I will take an ABS one for a demo ride and see if I can get it to kick in.

after completing my Direct access course last year on an 04 Honda CBF500 with abs I can honestly say in all the emergency stop and swerve and stop maneuvers I did, I didn't once see the ABS light come on or any hesitation/intervention from the system. we asked the instructor how much force do you have to put through the levers to activate the ABS at around 30-40mph? he said - "I'm not exactly sure about the figures, but it's bloody terrifying when it does kick in, but it has saved a few students from higher speed accidents, but usually they drop the bike anyways, but they do it at lower speeds/stopped. I'll show you what it does when it kicks in if you want!"
he told us to go stand down the bottom of the yard behind some railings and he came down at about 35mph (32 required min for test pass) and pulled hard on the leavers, bloody hell the thing stats to lock the the system releases pressure and applies it again until it locks, then releases, over and over again until a. you release the pressure and control the braking yourself,  or b. you stop.
when he took his lid off you could see from the pale complexion, he didn't exactly enjoy it.
personally if I had a big heavy bike like a 1200gs I'd defiantly opt for it, on a smaller bike, I wouldn't go out of my way to have it. Most of the dealers, pro or very experienced bikers I've asked about ABS say if it needs to kick in, 99% of the time it's too late and you were going to have an accident anyway, but abs 'can' slow you faster sometimes.

I must confess that ABS saved me twice from falling down. First time in downtown while approaching a roundabout. The fuc.... car driver in front of me doubted if joining the round about or not and decided to stop suddenly while I was already "squeezing my Vee´s ear" (is spanish slang and means you are sppeding up). regretfully I got on a pedestrian crossing....the ABS ran as expected....

The second time was while facing a left bend and mate before me used brakes in the middle of that bend. Had to get back to normal position and went straight to road shoulder, 20 cm. more and had been rolling down the slope. Was my fault of course due to get stuck to my mate...since then on I keep distances.

On the Wee the ABS is operational wen the ABS light goes off, as soon as you pull off in fact.

To test the ABS the salesman told me to get to 50 mph on a straight road and slam both brakes on, it took me a while to pluck up the courage but it worked, it came to a very fast stop without much juddering.

I've had to do it at about 40 when a mail lorry pulled out on me, in that case it slowed me quick enough to swerve around the lorry, I'm sure without ABS I would have locked up the fronts.

The only hairy moments were when aproaching the lights going around the traffic I rode some gravel and the ABS must have been confused because it didn't want me to stop.

and..

In the wet a car changed lanes, the ABS didn't stop me in time because of the releasing cycle, although the car came off worse on that occasion, them electric door mirrors ain't cheap.

Hi Luis

I have to agree that the blue is a wonderful shade for the bike. I was lucky enough to get the side cases with the bike and the previous owner had never used them.

As for the kids my son is now bike mad but favourite is currently the Ninja, mainly cos of the colour lol. My ex has told me that the kids aren't allowed on the back but they just say they won't tell her lol and who am I to argue lol

I really like that colour...

One of my pals here got the same in white and is really punchy...surprised me quite a lot.

As for the Ex....is quite difficult to find the balance with these issues pal....

the teeth do seem to suit the shape of the bike, it's getting the eyes in the right place that seems to be the tricky bit
