London - English pronounciation:
evryfink or nuffink or sumpfink

I have notice, the prefix "iearrrmmm" frequently used by Liverpool and Manchester youth when responding to a question. BBC vox pop etc.

been on the forum for nearly 3 years and never thought to come to the Blue Oyster Bar till now. And my favourite topic.
Being aged early 60s and schooled in the 60s when mental arithmetic, English grammar, sentence construction really mattered I sometimes amuse myself by responding to someone's heartfelt comment in the paper by saying "I think you meant to use the word ....", thereby peeing them off by trivialising their whole rant.
Here's one for starters:
"There were less than 400 people at that rally against domestic violence in Sydney today"
Me: "I think you meant 'fewer than', didn't you"

and a woman where I used to work would insist on saying "somethink". I used to throw back "and some don't".

And don't get me started on journalists (often pompous and elated by their clever word-smithing) presenting and purporting to understand graphs and percentages.
The joy I've had correcting them in the comments section of their articles or by email to tell them to stick to the things they understand or contact me in future if they want things explained.

actors/actresses, people whose profession it is to pretend to be someone else, who determine to put the world right by voicing their (often very unsophisticated) opinions on things.

And those bastards who ask them for their opinions.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

DVLA woes part 3

Oh! yes Rusty "what could possibly go wrong" - 23 Jan-

Today I received a letter from the DVLA demanding the return (in the enclosed envelope) of the cheque, sent in error, that they previously told me to destroy,  there was, however, no return envelope.
They also instructed me to destroy the incorrect V5C form.
I have written to DVLA pointing out their contradictory instructions regarding the cheque and my raising my concern that they will now demand return of the V5C after it has been destroyed just as they have, the cheque.

I am now formerly instructing the DVLA to sit on the naughty step until they come to their senses.

well thought id post this here as I was a founder member of the old gits club

after a year of nasty stabby pains 2 weeks after the op my shoulder is working again
so you'll have to put up with my piss taking n general stupidity again this year
they wouldn't give me the metalwork they took out :-(
but I'm moving n constantly doing physio to build the strength up
so won't be long before I'm riding again
feels like forever
picked up an old DR600 that I've revived so I've not got to deal with the weight of the strom straight away, so ill be off to find some mud as soon as I can ride
be good to catch up with everone again
hope alls well in your respective worlds
ride hard ride free
n enjoy every minute :thumb:

That's great news earthcore.  :lala:
I would advise taking it easy and slowly working your way back to riding.
But what would be the point?
