Yes, very annoying! Personally though I wouldn't close up on the vehicle in front to stop them doing it, I much prefer leaving a good braking distance for my own personal safety and if someone cuts across then they can. I'd rather let them go and have their accident elsewhere and not get involved........  :icon_wink:
So how's it going so far then?

Just got a statement from Norweb, as I pay monthly by direct debit I am in credit by £129, I used less electricity (due to the fact that I got rid of both the electric shower and my daughter) so we are putting your DD up by £15 a month  :icon_exclaim: anyway after a long conversation and a lecture in mathematics they have reduced it back to what it was.  :dl_smiley_banghead:

Called into the local Shell garage on the way home tonight (17:45). Went like this:

Pull up directly opposite kiosk bit of the shop. Side-stand down, engine off. Helmet flipped up (Shoei Neotec), unplug heated jacket, key out, off bike, bike on centre stand, petrol cap open, nozzle in. Attendant over speakers:
"Pump number one, take your helmet off"
Me looking directly at him "I'm not taking it off"
"You have to take your helmet off"
Me "I'm not taking it off".
Nozzle out, petrol cap close. Bike off centre stand, climb on bike, heated jacket plugged in & turned on. Ignition on, side-step up. Off I go.

Two things annoy me about this. 1. He could clearly see my face,as could the camera directly above the kiosk. Had I been wearing a full face helmet, I could understand him wanting me to take it off.. 2. If I did take it off, the only place to put it is on a wet floor covered in diesel/petrol. That's not going to happen. Now I use this petrol station fairly regularly without issue but this just boils my p$$$ :dl_smiley_banghead: The last time this happened to me was at a Tesco petrol station in the middle of the day - never been back since.

Anyway the lady at the BP garage had no qualms about me filling up as above.
Incidentally, whilst I was at the BP garage a chap wearing a hat walks up to the pump with a petrol can and fills up. I wondered if he'd gone into the Shell garage whether he'd have been told to remove his hat before filling up?

Yes UK_Vstrom650.  I agree.   Maybe we should name names and create a list of all the garages that behave like this.

I thought about writing to Shell but they probably don't care. If it helps, it's the Shell garage on the A65 Kirkstall Road in Leeds

I had a similar experience with the Garage opposite Thunder Road Motorcycles in Bridgend. I also went elsewhere to fuel up.  :icon_batterup:

The 1st time I was refused was also at a Shell station. I asked if would they would request some one to remove a burkha. Apparently that's different. The fuel station in our village has now started as well, I know use the Asda card only station a couple of miles away.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I use pay at pump, I don't even have to turn heated vest off.

:thumb: for pay at the pump. And the bonus is, when I'm in a hurry, I don't have to wait for a pump or stand in a queue while some bloody woman does some unnecessary shopping (they can't resist it - poor things.

There is no law that you have to remove your protective gear whilst stationary.

If they want you to remove your helmet the should also provide an area that is safe and regularly cleaned for storage whilst fueling.
Life is short - You have to enjoy it on a Wee-Strom!

What irks me is the 'Pay at Pump' only lanes still let people press pay at kiosk, so people take up those pumps while they go in a do what ever faffery people seem to do in fuel stations.

If only there was a cheap enough electric bike that could get me to work with my heated gear on, and have a battery I could take up to the office and charge while I work, then I'd never have to wait to fill up.

People on trains with shoulder bags, apparently oblivious to their filtering width and equally oblivious to the amount of seated passengers they clip on the way past.  :icon_batterup:

I use pay at pump, I don't even have to turn heated vest off.

I would have done, but in their recent 'improvements' to the Shell garage they removed all the pay-at-the pump options. On the way home I tried to go for petrol at Asda to use pay at pump but they had closed the petrol station with no signage from main road  :dl_smiley_banghead:  The BP garage didn't do Pay at Pump either  :bawl:

FR, better a bag than the often wide rear that people have that does the same  :-x

Don't go on trains, you've 3 bikes to choose from.
Why ride in a tin can on a track full of the general public when you can get there any other way? Even if it's minus -20 and raining, it's still more pleasant to ride than endure having smelly stranger sat on your lap and three more crammed in your personal space. All this while you all listen to gangster rap on some shi**y speakers a yoof has brought on and are stuck on the track going nowhere because it's the wrong sort of rain or a leaf landed on the track somewhere and you have been charged a small fortune for the experience.

I travel into Westminster and have to be suited and booted. Going on the bike really isn't viable. Especially as the hotel want £25 per night for me to park the bike
