Sorry, I missed the point of the moaning old git thread! But I'm kind of moaning about the way it's becoming like the letters page of the Daily Mail which is where the ill-informed just have to vent their spleen...

If these people were any good they'd have proper jobs.

Many a true word said in jest  :thumb:

My company did some work for a relatively local council authority (who shall remain nameless) back in 2018 who were looking to invest in renewable energy projects. We used their sites, got grid connections arranged with the DNO, fully laid out the financial costings showing initial cost, yearly returns and length of returns. None of the projects went ahead despite ALL having the potential to make significant amounts of money for the council. My company received well over £100,000 of tax payer money for toss-all return to the tax payer. The best bit was the council asking us to reconfigure the finance to show how much profit would be made if there was a zero percent rise in electricity prices...

We ran the numbers for the various schemes a few months ago, just out of interest really. The 50MW battery storage project would have already paid for itself and made around £4,000,000 profit for the council so far, the 2 x solar farm projects would also have paid for themselves and would have made £1,500,000 profit for the council so far. Over the predicted lifespan of the battery project the council has squandered the chance to make around £15,000,000 and over the predicted lifespan of the 2x solar farms around £12,000,000. This would definitely make a huge difference to the council coffers. What a waste as these opportunities ended up being lost and the connection capacity being take up elsewhere.

I know Hugo Magnus says he doesn't benefit (personally) from a lot council services but they still need to be paid for. It's the same as me paying for prisons which I don't use, or for the state pensions which I don't use, but they still need to be paid for and, I'm pleased to be helping to funding Mick's breakfasts...

Today, I was supposed to be meeting up with my brother on the bikes but it was more the weather for Noah than the V-Strom. Dare I ask if we'll ever see that fabled yellow round thing that's supposed to live in the sky   :bawl:

Don't you bring me & my breakfasts into this.  lol
They get paid for with my meagre pension(s) that I paid into for the best part of 45 years. I might have enough in the pot to buy one breakfast a week until I can no longer ride the bike.

Don't worry Mick, I'll buy you a breakfast one day  :thumb:

My understanding of how tax works is today's tax pays for today's pensions, whereas what I'm paying into for my pension pot will actually be paid for by younger generations when I'm retired... Although the way it's going, folks my age won't be allowed to retire on a State pension  :icon_no:

AM I STUPID, PLAIN THICK OR SIMPLY CAN'T FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, OR ALL THREE?
Hang on in the cheap seats, quieten down at the back.
Yesterday I attempted to affix a Soundbomb Mini to The B.
What could go wrong.
In short...
Make sturdy aluminium bracket to hang off engine casing and affix same.
Extend existing wiring using crimped connectors. Heat shrink and attach to horn. Peep, peep.
Attach horn to bracket, tidy up all the wiring and nowt, the horn sounded like a stuck starter motor.
Pffffffftttttt.
Bad connection?
Refit using soldered connectors at the point of extension and put new lucas connectors on the horn end.
Attach to horn, Peep Peep, actually louder, maybe and then put horn onto bracket, nowt.
Repeat,
Repeat,
Repeat, Swear, repeat.
Pffffffftttttt.
So the question is why?
If you know the answer for definite hold back maybe until later, for the rest of you, guess away.
It now works.
Upt and edumicated. Or Stupid, plain thick and blind.....you decide!

Had you got the wires crossed ?, the Vstrom horn is wired with a permanent ignition controlled 12 volt positive feed and is operated by the horn button connecting the horn to 12volt negative.

Nice try Ian but the horn will work connected either way.
Not polarity sensitive.
I had to watch England after the above fiasco as well.

And a picture, that may not help at all. Or does it?

No Hugo, it's supposed to point down as much as possible.
But that's only for water entry issues.

Put 12v across the terminals from a known good source to eliminate a fault with the horn.

No the horn is not faulty, maybe just the fitter.
And I've got City and Guilds as well.
4 years wasted.

Well, if you have 12v at the horn when you press the horn switch and the horn isn't faulty, you seem to have defied the laws of physics  :smirk:

It's funny and I was thinking that....but.....the horn was getting the electrons as confirmed by the stucky startery noises.
This went on for hours, and the answer came to me in the shower!

Well it clearly has to be something to do with the bracket or mounting since you say it worked fine until mounted each time.
Connections contacting the bracket and shorting or earthing out through it, even Alloy will have some effect I would think.
