That's why I put the 8kW kero heater in my garage: so far it's cost me about £15 in fuel for about a year, it's all paid up front & I can get it from a local independent garage for £1 a litre.

Interesting, Mr Nick. I bought a 5kw unit and run it on red diesel. 89p a litre round my neck of the woods.

I couldn't find a place willing to sell 20 litres of cherry at a time within a distance that would offset the cost difference in getting it: it's mostly wholesale deliveries, and one jerry can didn't meet their definition apparently...

I'd also seen some conflicting info about the relative BTU values for both, but most seemed to say kero was higher per unit.

Loads of places round here sell red. Loads of diesel taxis round here, too.
( And a fair few chip fat burners on the road, as well.)

More rural here so lots of farms & legitimate demand, but they'll buy bulk. I drive past a local fuel supply depot regularly too, but they're just not interested.

I get mine from a garage. They do heating oil too. Not sure on the price of that stuff.

In March last year when the 'planes stopped flying there was a kero glut. 16p a litre, it's back up to 45 to 50p at the moment. Gas Oil (red) is high 50's middle 60's, 500litre minimum delivery.

Why do people have to do what they really shouldn't be doing?  :angry-banghead:
We live on a main road that runs end to end through a quite large housing estate. Normally Monday to Friday, & occasionally on a Saturday, it can have a fair bit of traffic on it but Sundays are fairly quiet.
Today it has snowed none stop for about six hours, very heavy stuff & it's settled. We have got around 6" in the garden!
The road outside also has snow lying on it, the hundreds of cars up and down, far more than a Monday morning, have not been able to clear it!
It's been that busy that there was a queue about 100 yards long waiting to get out at the roundabout at the end of the road at one stage!!
What can't they understand about "stay at home"!

Bloody Ebay. What is so hard to comprehend about an auction? You list an item, and two minutes later get messages offering thruppence ha'penny for your item. But no bids. And messages of "what's your buy it now price?" but no bids. Then a very satisfactory bid, enough to discourage others from bidding. Which is then withdrawn milliseconds before the auction ends (against Ebay rules) and is then followed up with a message from the same person with a desultory offer. F'kin b'stards.

Just bid on the bloody thing if you want it.

I have several tins of tartan paint and a pink elephant gun.

Any good?
