Unprecedented.

Is unprecedented the only word news agencies know these days ? I'm getting quite fed up by this unprecedented intrusion and the unprecedented use of the word unprecedented. This unprecedented use of the word unprecedented will be so overused it will become both unviable AND untenable at the same time...
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Congratulations. You just set a precedent for using the word unprecedented more than twice in a sentence.  :thumb:

Mick's car now has a present dent from his top box....

Bloody cars  ###  I had to change the battery on the 2015 S-Max today as the stop/start and heated front windscreen were no longer working even after 'fully charging' the battery. What a pain in the  ### that was. To get to the battery, you have to remove the airbox - which requires removing several other bits bolted to it, then you can pull the battery forward to access the negative terminal (although the wires aren't long enough to allow the battery to be supported so it has to be wedged in the engine bay) then you can swap it over and reassemble. What should be a 10 minute job becomes a good hour of pratting about. I assume this is so people use dealers to sort out simple jobs and they can get £££s out of people  :violence-smack:

Ford's answer is quite simple...
Drop the engine out the bottom and then you'll be able to simply swap the battery.

"Gender-neutral pronouns".
This has popped up yet again with Sam Smith hitting social media news. People refer to this singer as "they" because of Sam's decision to be "non- binary".
Whatever. Nice and fashionable. But "they" is clearly a plural. We, like Germany, already have a non-gender specific set of words. Er, Sie and Es, Der, Die and Das in German. We have he, she, and it. Why can't Sam Smith be it rather than they? It's non-gender, singular and fits the bill. Aerosmith are a they - more than one. Sam Smith (and all others in the same bracket) can be it. All we need to do is lose the perceived stigma about calling a person by a word we have, till now, only used for objects.

Our species consists of male and female, if people want refer to themselves as a Table Lamp instead, I have no opinion, just don't expect me to sign up to the nonsense.

FR, I was mostly moaning about the linguistic side of all that, using words wrongly when we have perfectly suitable words already.

   “who is Sam Smith”
I know of Smiths Brewery Alan,I had to go there on a breakdown about 20 yrs ago.The smell of the hops took me back the 1950’s,I used to live about 200 yds from Bank’s Brewery in Walsall when I was a mixed infant.
Still never heard of “Sam Smith”,is he/she/it famous?
