True. But his feedback saying he is delighted with it should solve that one.

When I watch the news on the television and they talk about Brexit and the back stop, why do they say the "Island of Ireland"  We don't say the "Island of England" or the "Island of Iceland"   :icon_exclaim:

Two reasons.

Some thick tart on either Chanel 4 or Sky thought Ireland was pronounced Island, or maybe thought it was spelt that way and exposed how useless half these journalists are on anything outside the M25.

It upsets fewer of the inhabitants of said island. The ones in the North who want the North to be in the South like the Ireland bit. The ones who want the North to be in Scotland like that the island is differentiated from Ireland.

Because they are referring to Eire and Norn Iron in one go.

(Also, England is not an island)

Why do half the TV Reporters call the process "Breg-zit" and not "Brex-it"?

It's clearly a mash-up of Britain and Exit and not a mixture of the first meal of the day and some bad acne.

That has been my view for a very long time Martin. (About three years)

If they could pronounce it properly then perhaps you would at least agree on something.   :icon_wink:

BTW, The 'scotch' people are the worst.......
So how's it going so far then?

There was a vote and 51.89%  decided that was the correct pronunciation. So it must be true.

Nowt like a good clear majority to decide important matters...

1.89% is still a clear majority.

Absolutely. Which is why when 1.89% of cats prefer Whiskas,  they use it in their adverts.

Democracy as I understand does not work on a clear majority or even the odd million votes. Democracy works on one vote!! the one vote that says a majority have decided. After all John Bercow himself had a casting vote not too long ago and we all had to go with that.... Not that I want to start a Brexit conversation !!!!  :old: :old: :dl_smiley_banghead: :dl_smiley_banghead:

Can't do that on here, Tusker. We were merely discussing pronunciation. And cat food.

No politics.
It brings out the worst of the 'I'm not racist, but....' brigade.

No politics indeed. On a completely different topic, I am, for the first time ever, looking forward to Halloween this year  :thumb:
