Getting confused
« on: June 07, 2011, 10:11:12 »
I am in need of new tyres but every time I decide ‘that’s the tyre for me’ I read some bad comments about it. Now I understand that people have their preferences but there must be an on/off road tyre that gets top votes for the wee.

I went from the Deathwings to the Tourances and have found them to be very good. I did think about the Annakee's, and from all acounts they are very good, but I read that the Tourances would last a bit longer.

+1 for Anakee 2 tyres, have a read through the various Anakee threads in the Tyres section, most people love them. Personally I find them great in the wet and dry and I get very good mileage from them (one of the threads would mention the mileage I get from them, quite high.) Can't speak for them in off road condition, I don't think they are the right tyre for anything seriously offroad. They'll be fine on dirt tracks and such as long as it's not muddy, but I haven't done anything much like that with them yet.

Plus one for Tourances. Cheaper than Anakees by quite a bit. More capable than I am. Wear well, 7-8k on a rear, they square off but not in a scary way. About to fit my 3rd rear and 2nd front. I love them. Super feedback wet and dry.

I thought Avon's Distanzia's were a great match for my Vee. Plenty of grip, loads of feel and decent off road. They'll be going on the Guzzi when I've destroyed another rear Pirelli...

As you've seen from the replies different people like different tyres and what one person likes another can't get on with. There isn't a great choice of tyres for the 'strom and in reality whatever you choose will do you fine. It may come down to what you can get locally at the best price. Just make sure they're fitted and balanced properly with the correct pressures, run them in for about 75 miles and away you go. Then after a few thousand miles when you need a new set you'll have to do this all over again! You will however have had the experience of the ones you have been using and if happy with them get another set or perhaps try something else.... Best of luck!
