Lidl From Monday 7th
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:21:31 »
Lidl have their annual motorcycle clothing extravaganza..

I brought jacket and trousers last year and they have faired really well.  Only in monsoon conditions did the trousers leak a little.

What are peoples thoughts on the low price helmets on sale in this Lidl sale and yesterday it was Aldi? Had a look at the Helmets in Aldi and they are a Chinese import. Seem to have BS numbers on them but not sure what that indicates. Thought about buying one as a spare but decided against it after humming and hawing.
Lidl seem to have a flip helmet for £40 which seems an incredibly cheap price. I know it's likely going to be a cheap construction but presumably it must adhere to certain standards to be sold in the UK?
Anyone bought one in the past?

I went to Aldi yesterday and picked up a set of thermals. The thermals looks like good quality as far as I can tell, but I'll only really know after I've used them a bit. I had a quick look at the helmets and they look OK except for the vents and other 'detailed' bits which look a tad cheap. The rest of the stuff they had were looking decent for the prices, the gloves were comfy (I tried a pair on), the jackets and trousers looked fairly good, the windstopper base layers and the balaclavas and such were all stuff I'd buy if I needed them. The boots felt very stiff, but otherwise were probably good value for money. The socks didn't look like anything special, but that's probably because I have even thicker woolen socks. I think I will stop by Aldi each year if there's something I need.

I will pop into Lidl on Monday, want to pick up a pair of thermals for the wife in a female cut/size (Aldi only had male cuts/sizes.) I also want to check the winter gloves they have, I noticed they have a drawstring on the cuff that would make them good for wearing over your jacket sleeves when it rains (the bloke that trained us last Sunday did this and claimed it works for him.) I'll probably get myself a pair and a pair for the wife, her current gloves are just for summer and quite thin. The Lidl jacket and trousers look quite good from the pics and info on the website. I'll pass on the helmet, but the website makes them sound good too:
