Q1: Does anyone use their socks (or anything else for that matter) and are they really as waterproof as advertised?
Q2: Do they provide good heat insulation too?

Yep! I got a pair years ago when I had some unreliable boots. They were good - waterproof AND warm. I haven't worn them in years 'cos I got better boots, but I still have them tucked away, just in case.

I have the gloves for winter pike fishing trips, initially put them on and think these are rubbish and cold, half hour later notice hands are warm and toasty :)

Hehe, when I told the wife I want some special Sealskinz socks she suggested that I get 5 pairs, one for each day of the week. When I told her the price she said I should get one pair to test them first  lol  They are quite expensive so I decided I will put off buying a pair until I've been to the NEC Bike Show to look for some warmer, better boots.

Actually, this weekend I spent the better part of 2 hours cleaning and 'feeding' my current Bullson boots. They are nice and supple now and completely waterproof again. The only trouble with them is that they aren't as warm as I'd want them to be for winter. I might buy a pair of very warm boots for winter and use these ones for warmer times. They are very comfy and still in good condition. Dr. Martin's leather wax stuff is excellent, the boots are as good as new for less than a fiver.

Look out for Renapur - they are usually at bike shows offering to clean your boots for you. It looks expensive but a tub lasts for a very long time. It is top notch for keeping leather waterproof and supple.

UPDATE: I started writing this then it occurred to me they must have a web site- here it is
http://www.renapur.com/SITE/motorcyclists_11.asp

The claims may seem extravagant but I recommend it.
