Halvarssons Motorbike Jackets
« on: October 27, 2010, 16:38:06 »
I thought id post about my halvarssons jacket.

I own a halogen outrider jacket, like http://www.grandprixlegends.com/motorcycle-gear/motorcycle-clothing/mens-textile-jackets/Halvarssons-Halogen-jacket.htmlshown here and the safety lvl 1 interior, like this http://www.glfaccessories.com/index.php/ce-safety-clothing/jackets/halvarssons-safety-jacket-ce-level-1-inner-women.html

I've had them for 2 years, and they are the best combined jacket I've ever had. the halogen stands out a mile, but shows marks and stains. washing is simple and dries very fast, except the collar and sleeve cotton, which dries normal speed. pockets are all over the inside and outside, and they are zipped or velco closing. the main zip is covered by a velco flap, which stays shut tight. the neck is velcro closed and very comfortable.

the lvl 1 safety inner jacket is really comfortable, with a removable inner thermal layer which is amazing. honestly, it keeps u really warm and if u toutch it with your hands, the inside feels damp. its not damp, it just reflects heat somehow. when held it feels really heavy, but when worn, you don't notice it. sizing is perfect, if u want 44 inch, 44 is what u get. ( euro sizes apply though) removable armour is supplied, exept the back. ( I've a knox Aegis though for that)

all in all, I'm extremely happy with this jacket and wear it all year round. very watertight, and warm . plus, with my white helmet, I've had people think I'm a police man and slow down as I aproach ;) lol
I'm sane, honestly. . . I got a certificate to prove it!

one thing I should add, the halogen and safety jacket are zipped on the body and pop stud held together in the sleeve. I found the pop studs a bit loose, one did come loose. I used a set of pliers to push them in harder, and reattatch the loose one and have had no problem since. also, I'm not being paid by halvarssons to promote their gear, which  is expensive, but worth every penny

I think they use some parafin crystal magic for their thermal stuff. I've read reviews of some gloves made by them and people get lyric about the stuff. Sounds like decent gear, but not so sure if I would spend that much to find out if it is myself.

Your, its good stuff, but I admit, costs me £300 for both safety jacket and outer halogen. would cost about £360 now with price increase. so far though, I havnt had to "test" it. and I hope I don't have to lol

yeah - I'm another big Halvarrsonn's fan.

Had a Halogen jacket for about three years that I wear over my leathers in the summer if it rains. Never leaked on me and I've used it in some pretty grotty conditions all over Europe. Other half bought one this year to replace an old Held jacket - she also likes to wear it with a fleece in between that and the leathers when it gets a bit chilly up in the mountains.

On top of this I've recently bought a new Halvarrson's Odyssey jacket for the winter - fab bit of kit that won't soak up the wet like some other jackets - rather expensive but so comfy and still half the price of Rukka stuff.

Saving up for the trousers now...........

I recently bought the Mayhem jacket along with Zen pants and I have to say so far they are the warmest clothing I have ever owned.  Even in 4 degrees I simply wear a single mid range layer as the outlast liner does a fantastic job.  They also say it is good for the warmer days but I will have to wait and see what happens (if we ever get such a day...).

No idea regarding waterproofing as yet it hasn't rained when I have been out but hopefully it should be fine.  In the end if it isn't then it will be taken back as it comes with a 2 year guarantee  :rain:

I've worn my jacket in warmer days with the outlast fitted, and while I must admit it was slightly warmer, it was nothing unbareable. One the day I forgot to take my thermal lining out of my spare jacket (I had to use the other as I left mine in my brothers car, long story) anyway, I forgot about the thermal layer and rode in the summer heat with it in. While it was pi... pouring down lol, I really felt the difference.

Although I've been a visitor to Bike Radar for a few years, this s my first post on the forum.

I've just started cycling to work (either side of my train journey) and I'm in the market for a high visability jacket. I've had a look at some of Altura's offerings but they seem a bit pricey. There also seem to be issues with the quality of the zips and waterproofing.

Hi &  :welcome:

Might be a good idea to post a quick introduction in that forum section. Excuse the ignorace, I see you have your bike up as "Hevy, Red 2004" and I've never heard of "Hevy" and I can't seem to find anything useful on Google. Mind posting a picture or a link somewhere so I can see what it is, just curious.
