Yeah, that's the trouble with LWR.  Anyone who does any kind of motorbike trip now will have to endure that same comparison.  Even though people have been doing bike trips for years.

A few years back, I did a trip to John o'Groats and back in a single day for a car magazine.   Clarkson did one for Top Gear a short while after.  Despite the fact I did mine first, and that anything to do with JoG is hardly original, the mag got a load of stick for it.  Bizarre.

Still.  This one looks interesting.  Dying to see how they get on with their 'Stroms.

I'd rather do it on a Strom than a Sports Bike  :x

If anyone's in the area, they've appealed for as many bikers as possible to join them on the 14th on a ride-out from Eric Morecambe statue at 12pm to Devil's Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale.  Press and TV media will be covering the start.  Should be fun.  Too far for a southern softy like me, though.

This is really good - It will put the Strom firmly on the adventure bike list. Presumable they will keep a blog - we should have regular updates on this forum to keep an eye on how they are getting on.

There are loads of people doing adventurous things with their bikes - most of them initially inspired by Ted Simon and Jupiter's Travels but there's no doubt that Ewan and Charlie have had an impact.

Personally I think the Strom is a far better choice than the massive BMWs. Ted Simon used an old (relatively light) airhead, R80GS  I think, for his second trip and found that far to heavy.

I'm not sure whether I have done this correctly but have a look at this link for lightweight long distance travel!!

By the way I heartily approve of their choice of charity - Barnardos do a lot of good work

Suzuki have promised to issue regular press releases when they receive updates from the boys, so I'll try to remember to post them here.

The blokes are planning on returning to Morecambe on Saturday 4th October.  If anyone's interested in riding with them, they're planning a meet at the Eric Morecambe statue 12pm.  Details are on, errr... Facebook.
