Just heard M and P Swansea have gone into liquidation.

Anyone got more details?

They closed the loss making Cardiff store a while ago, and back in the spring the business was sold on to someone new.

Facebook told me earlier this week they cancelled tonight's bike night due to the weather warning.

But I've not heard anything through the local grapevine

Grapevine update...

Yes, M&P's have shut their doors and are in administration.
Staff apparently kept in the dark until the last minute, but other dealers knew of the financial issues there.

Customers have been advised when booking services for a couple of days, maybe weeks that service work can be booked and done, but they may not be a KTM/BMW dealer by the time of service and won't be able to log the sevice with the manufacturer.

A few post of angry staff stating they need time to find the words to explain what happened and "time will tell the truth".

Doesn't seem the new owners invested wisely and over streched the finances.

The online side is apparently still taking orders but I would recommend not placing orders with either M&P's or Busters until we know more.

I'm very glad now we didn't order a new Honda Rebel for SWMBO from there a few weeks back... I don't think we would have got the new bike by this point had we orderd.

This is very sad. Around 1980 I worked for a luggage company and we took Mark Collins (the M from M&P) to Germany. We visited a Hein Gerike store and I told him that he should offer a catalogue, and the rest is history. I have been a happy customer and read that he had sold the business (for a second time I think) so thought he would want to retire maybe. It seems the new owners using borrowed money didn’t realise that a motorcycle business operates on slim margins overall. A dealer once told me: If you want to make a small fortune in the bike business, start with a large one.

Seems M&P's and Buster's ebay page has had all the products removed from sale.
