Cannot find Dunlop D614 Tyres
« on: August 18, 2025, 15:33:07 »
I’m hoping someone can help:
Need to replace the rear tyre on my Suzuki DL 800 RE VStrom, due to puncture.
Having real difficulty finding a replacement Dunlop D614.
Has anyone changed to an aftermarket replacement already or can recommend one?
Thank you, John

I assume the tyre is completely shot and not repairable, even by a professional with an interior patch?
The D614 appears to be an OEM tyre designed exclusively for Suzuki and not available to buy in Europe. Trailmax Meridian looks to be the closest thing from the same manufacturer but, if your front is worn much then I'd proably stump for a matching pair that haven't been designed down to the OEM price. I understand that's not a luxury everyone will think is worth the extra though.

At least when I worked in the dealers, bike manufacturers would have tyres made to a price and the tyre manufacturers would change compounds or tread patterns of a current tyre model and sell it to be used only for factory fitment and you can't get it other than on a new bike.

PITA but likely still the same. I never understood the rationale behind it, maybe to sell a pair when the first rear wore out?
I too would say the Trailmax Meridian would seem to be an alternative.

Cambrian Tyres in Aberystwyth typically only deal with the trade, but will take a call from the public and give genuine advice.
they are likely your best bet for an alternative tyre.

A couple of years ago I bought a pair of Avons direct from Cambrian Tyres. Good price and speedy delivery. Worth giving them a call.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.

Like a few on here I have used Two Tyres for fast delivery, then have your local shop change them.

Thank you all for your replies. I’m giving the Suzuki dealer a ring this morning to see if he has the 614’s failing that, the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 have been recommended by one motorcycle tyre fitter.
Thanks again, btw: the Oxford puncture kit seemed to provide a temp fix

I liked the Roadsmart 3s when I had them and would reuse - got huge mileage out of them albeit they were very squared off by c. 18,000 miles.
Only reason I'm not using them now is the Michelin Roads were about £50 cheaper when I was changing, and Michelin are a good tyre too.
(to be honest most modern tyres are fantastic and will perform much better all year round than my skills)
