BSB Racing Yesterday.
« on: August 11, 2025, 14:05:31 »
I went to Thruxton yesterday for the 6th round of BSB racing. Fantastic! The weather couldn't have been better and the warm, abrasive track made for very fast racing, with a few too many crashes if I'm honest.

The ride there was fun. I caught up and stayed behind three Ducati riders on the way there, they wore racing gear and their bikes had race pipes that were deafening, so loud that it was painful so I dropped back but caught them again three times before passing and not seeing them again.

When I was behind them I observed this curious habit of riding with the left hand on the hip when forced to ride below 40mph? When I passed them at about 80mph I put my hand on my hip in a exaggerated way which hopefully gave them a laugh.

It's amazing what people through away when leaving the circuit, there where lots of folding chairs and sun shelters of different shapes and sizes, I would have had a few had I been in my car. One thing I was surprised to find in a bin was a pair of what looked like new binoculars in a case, I did have them and gave them to my friend today. They are too big for me and I already have three pairs.

My headlight blew on the way home and as I was in no rush to get stuck in traffic leaving the circuit (large panniers fitted) it was dark before I home. Blast! That's the second time since I've owned the bike. I replaced it today as I bought two last time round so fitted the same brand, OSCRAM supper duper something or others. What bulb should I fit next? Something that really is superior and will last more than a year?

Anyway, my bikes booked in to have two new tyres fitted on Wednesday as my rear is warn square and bald down the middle. It doesn't matter how much I lean and scrub the edges of the tyre they still ware down the middle much quicker.

I won't be using the bike tomorrow because although I got my money's worth and more out of the tyre up until yesterday it's balder than my head now and I don't want points on my licence still, the car could do with a drive to keep the battery charged.

I hope the roads are dry on Wednesday because I hate scrubbing in new tyres when they're wet.  :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike: :thumb:

Too late to edit but Through should read Throw, obviously and I've just noticed other mistakes while re reading, lots of red writing and a fail from my teacher, I didn't go to school much  :thumb:

I don't go to racing very often but the BSB is really good and decent value for a major sporting event.
Thruxton is one of the few circuits I've not visited yet, must get around to it.

I see they have built up and prepared some extra viewing areas so my previous grumble about limited viewing may now be, like me,  out of date.  Super racing almost but not quite spoiled by the very dangerous final chicane. They may be OK for wheel banging cars but are a disaster for motorcyclists. It surely is worst chicane in the country on what is otherwise a fabulous track.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.
