Love the Elan valley, never thought of doing an evening run, might in the future, it would be a way of avoiding loads of traffic and the worst of the days heat.

Yeah it is lovely, I was up there on Tuesday but unfortunately the road was closed :dl_smiley_banghead: so had to go back into Rhayader and over the mountain road to Aberystwyth for fish and chips on the sea front. I was spending a very pleasant couple of days visiting a friend in Kington, it was nice to ride some of the Welsh roads again , haven't been back since I moved to Dorset 2 years ago. Wednesday was a ride through the Brecon Beacons over the Black Mountains and down into LLandovery for a very enjoyable breakfast at the Owls nest. Back on Thursday morning , really hot on the way back, bike was showing 30c :sunny:

I wouldn't normally go for an evening ride when out on a trip, but twice now circumstances have dictated that I must in order to ride the roads I planned. In both cases there was less traffic and it had a different feel that made for a more interesting ride.
I rode around the reservoirs on Monday and there were lots of sections of roadworks, so I'm not surprised to hear of the road closure on Tuesday.
