First time taking the Chunnel on a bike.

First time riding in Europe on a bike.

Marathon ride, 967km in one day, single recovery day, 967km back.

Loved every second of it.

Love the Chunnel, although not the fact they built it in the wrong place, pffffffftttttt.
Wouldn't love 967 km in one day.
I'm trying to think what my longest days ride would be, it's a guess, but an edumicated guess of just over 700 km. It was enough.
Glad you enjoyed it you feeline flyer.

967kM in a day is a good effort (approximately 605 miles), especially with just a day off and then repeat in the opposite direction. Needs must, I try to limit my days ride to around 350/400 miles or less. But sometimes you've just got to roll the dice  :thumb:

P.S. my longest day has been 670 miles, there are people out there that have more than doubled that. Sobering thought.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

That's quite a slog. And to turn round and do it all again so soon. As 2112 says, needs must. My last French trip started as soon as I got home from a day's work. 260 miles to the Chunnel, then 600 miles to Aubenas. Grim. But when you've only got a week off.... and it was worth it.

June 2023, Dijon to Weston-super-Mare, via the tunnel, in one hit.

600 miles. The only bike I’ve ever owned I could achieve that sort of miles on……..  I don’t make an habit of it though.😁

Rained on the way to the tunnel in UK, rained for half my journey and then the sun came out and baked me. Pickled in my own juices. Nice (Not the place  lol ).

Only stopped for petrol, for most of the stretching I needed. Bum got a bit sore but either standing on the pegs for 20 seconds or filling up with fuel made that go away for the next couple of hundred miles. Did use some toll roads, another interesting situation. The ticket would never go in the machine at payment time so I had to use the assistance button. They must have done something their side and they it took the ticket. Wonder if the bike didn't register as a vehicle - though I would expect bikes are common. It's quite odd to ride around drivers that don't get angry at you for taking time to put your gloves on or get your ticket out. I found riding in France to be really quite relaxing.

Filling with fuel was 'interesting', one station pre-authed 170 Euro - actual cost of fuel 24 Euro - still waiting for the pre-auth to clear back.

Found the riding remarkably easy, the only issues on the trip were OsmAnd letting me down a bit and the Carpuride display wasn't really bright enough for the weather although I think that's ony going to be a limitation for a few months at most while in the UK.  :smirk:

Managed to ruin my summer gloves though. So much sweat the insides flaked off onto my hands.

On the way back on the tunnel blistering heat and massive queues. As always last to get on so it was really uncomfortable. The did bring a big pack of water bottles for all of the bikes travelling and just left it with us telling us we could drink as much as we liked and take the rest with us. Train braked hard and 3 of the bikes went over. I've never seen bikers move so fast. Lucky no real damage to any bikes  - the tunnel staff did come to check .
