It worked for me,I am a speedway fan,and used to go to the Wolves on Friday nights when I was a teenager.I only went to Belle Vue once, and when I moved to the Derby area used to go to Long Eaton regularly until it was closed by the council due to noise complaints from a new housing development nearby……..😠
Really…..they knew the stadium was there when they bought the houses.
I still watch it when it is on TV.

If you left click on where it says YouTube it will play. I saw speedway from Belle Vue on TV when I was a little boy and longed for my Dad to take me but he was always at work.  :bawl:

Reference the noise, I worked at Plymouth airport (closed now) and when they built new houses nearby the residents started a petition to have the airport closed, madness.

Thanks for the video.  :thumb:

That's exactly what has happened to Swindon. We were the Elite League champions at the time, the best in the country. The council just capitulated.

Peterborough as well with the East of England Showground being turned over to housing as well.
Personally I open my windows every Thursday night to listen to the Speedway just down the hill at Owlerton, it's a lot nicer than most of the noises I hear locally :)

Thanks for bringing back the memories ASmith. Used to love speedway, and that sounds, it's just incredible.

Unfortunately lots of well known speedway teams going down the swanny these days.
I was a massive Heathens fan 70s/80s, stadium was sold to developers. Started going to Wolverhampton a few years ago (where the resurrected Cradley team were riding) they only lasted a few seasons. Then I carried on going to Wolves home matches and they've lost their home now. Talk of Birmingham Brummies going next season. It's really sad.

Don’t get me started on the tracks that have closed over the years.
Here is my very good friend and 7 times British champion Scott Nicholls in action. And one of his bikes that I bought from him.
