Have just joined after buying my first VStrom 1000 2015 , I didn't like the look of them in 2007 so bought a Varadero , but found that top heavy and didn't like the linked brakes and now the new 1050 has them !

Ex V-Strom owner, current Varadero owner.
I don't like the linked brakes either, but 10 years in and I've got use to them.
V-Strom s are great bikes and there's a good bunch on here providing you like lots of picture of ride outs and cooked breakfasts.

Hello and
. Well now you have the V-Strom 1000 with the same engine as the 1050 (actually 1035cc) but without the linked brakes. Best of both worlds and I get just over 51mpg from mine and that's raking it, I think that's more than the Honda can do?
