Happy New Year
« on: December 31, 2024, 17:45:54 »
Best wishes to all in the upcoming year.

I will be doing dry January..... or trying anyway

I am also going to try and give up the internet for January too ( barring work emails :GRR: )
So see you in February :icon_wink:

Ta me duck.
I don't do dry.
If my maths is right.....it's a quarter of a century since the millennium, where did that go? I spent millennium eve in Boston MA, them Bostonians know how to put on a good firework display.
25 years!

Mmm…….the famous Y2K panic, everyone was panicking about when the calendar changed to the year 2000 on their computer systems. The company I worked for at the time was and still is an emergency generator specialist, and we had customers of all sorts all over the Uk.Hospitals and water companies were the most places that were concerned about the power going off at midnight on New Years Eve,so we had 2 people in the office and all of the site engineers including me on call…….Nothing happened, they didn’t get 1 call and gave up at 4 am and went home.So I spent the night at home instead of the pub…😂

Y2K was obviously a hoax. To think all those geeks who design these things were too dumb to future proof the clocks. The modern day equivalent of "the end of the world is nigh". Its what people like to believe because it makes them feel clever.
Like the "loud exhausts saves lives"  tosh.  :eusa-doh:
P.S. Happy new year and stay safe out there.

Nigel is this your version of a "silent spring" without a music video being posted?

Don't knock the Y2K fear - I made a fortune out of it with overtime & standby payments

Have a great 2025 folks, I hope you all have a cracking year  :thumb:

I'm now counting down the days until we head off to New Zealand for a month as a 'little' treat for my recent retirement.

I did have to upgrade a small number of machines for Y2K, but it mostly rolled by without a hitch.
