A Wee is the original 650 up to 2011.

A Glee (Gladius Engine) is the 650 from 2012 onwards.

I'm getting educated here myself, I always thought the 650 vstrom (any year) was a wee.  :angry-banghead:

Still refer to mine as a weestrom even though technically it's a glee by most people's terminology. Glee just reminds me too much of an awful, cheesy American dancing/singing TV programme.

And when the beak was introduced the letter k was added at the end of the existing naming convention, to indicate that the model came out with a beak, aka Veek and Gleek.

Some members on this site and other sites have de-beaked their rides. For the enquiring minds, a few examples, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=35715.0, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=43223.0 and https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/beaks
I recall a member or two offering a hacksaw to help with the de-beak process, when the first beaked models were introduced....   :stirpot:     :eusa-doh:

Until they put the ridiculous beak on it, then it became shite Gleek

Every day's a school day.

I have always referred to my 2014 650 as a... 2014 650, as the whole wee, vee, glee thing was a mystery to me.

So, it appears I have a.... 2014 650... sorry, glee!

May I ask why is it deemed that the Vee naming convention was limited to the K2 - K8 / 2002 - 2008 Vee models?

It is my understanding that all first gen DL1000 models (K2 - L3 / 2002 - 2013) with the 998cc motor was called a Vee. From L4 / 2014, a new 1050 cc engine capacity was introduced for the DL1000 gen 2 models.
One may argue the point that the 1050 engine was released during the last quarter of 2013.... for the 2014 launch / market.

Ending at 2008 is a UK thing as Suzuki stopped selling the Vee over here in 2008, even though it ran longer in other markets. I guess strictly speaking Vee is 2002-2013 if we're being global ;)
I think the Gen2 1000 gets the moniker 'Veek' after the addition of the plasticised nasal proboscis.
The 1050 is just the 1050 I presume due to the lack of a neatly scanning name ;) Or are we still calling these Veeks?
