Givi Airflow. Advice needed from those who have one
« on: November 23, 2016, 09:17:35 »
Hi All
I've just ordered a Givi Airflow 3101 for my Glee and need some advice about the best height to try, I'm 5' 11" tall and want to stop most of the buffeting which happens with the standard screen. I won't be riding much during the winter (unless we have some really nice weather) and would like to fit it in the best position for my height without having to keep adjusting it. :)

Trial and error.

I have mine in the middle holes & about 2/3 the way up the slider.
It's not perfect as I still get a slight but annoying vibration type buffeting..

I'm always messing with height & angle (different spacers) but never yet found a sweet spot.

As above, trial & error! What suits one don't suit another. At 5'10 (& a bit) mine is fixed on the middle fasteners & the top screen is an inch or so from the lowest possible. Don't forget changing the mirrors can help too!! I've got Aprilia style mirrors & extenders fitted.
I believe I'm correct in thinking that it's the compression of air between the two screens that helps the Airflow work so the more they overlap the better???

I'm still playing with mine, got it on the top holes and about 3/4 extension. I can ride with my visor open at 70 but still get a touch of buffeting on the top of my head

Being a short arse (5ft 8) I have mine on the middle holes and the second screen at the bottom. I can ride quite comfortably with my flip front up.

As above pb. Trial and error. One thing that isn't explained is that insects get splattered between the screens and you have to dismantle it all to clean properly. I have marked the top screen with permanent marker pen just above the clamps so I can replace it in the same position after cleaning.  :icon_wink:

Enjoying the bike still? Didn't get to see you this year unfortunately.  :icon_no:
So how's it going so far then?

I mounted it in the highest holes.  That way there's more overlap and in theory more pressurised air. But it's adjustable and it's a very subjective thing. Play with it, that's what they're for.

all trial and error - I'm 6ft3 and found the best position was lowest mounting point and screen on lowest setting - provided the best relief for me :)

you'll find your own - best thing is to start with it right at the bottom (mounting and screen) and just work upwards on both to find where you are most comfortable.
The thing I can say is that I found adjusting the screen made virtually no difference whatsoever so I just moved mounting holes between bottom and middle. only time I ever really moved the screen was from right at the bottom to right at the top if I was on the motorway and it was absolutely throwing it down as it gave me a bit better protection from the rain.

Thanks for all the replies.
Fitted the screen yesterday, middle position and just above lowest height on the top screen.
What a difference , no head wobble, even at speed and I was able to leave my lid up also which will be great on those hot summer days. :smirk: Well worth the £100 and I would say a must have on any accessory list.
