Have you considered going electric?  (Rather than going for bulk.)
Never tried them, but I'd consider it.

Summer gloves, bar muffs and heated grips could work for you

For extreme cold I have heated grips, muffs and Hein Gericke Pathan 'lobster' gloves. They appear bulky, but I find them very comfortable to wear.

Will the handle bar guards have to come off first?

Never fitted muffs on my Glee, as it will not get used in Winter, but the Oxford ones go over the hand guards on both my Transalp and BMW 1100GS. It is best if you can leave them on as they stop the muffs being blown onto the levers at high speed.

I use summer gloves in the winter but use Keis heated inner gloves ... my hands are toasty.

Gerbing heated gloves are very good, they make lots of different styles and have a lifetime guarantee. Obviously they ain't exactly cheap.

I wear summer gloves all year round since having hand guards but I do pop the heated grips on during cold weather.

If you suffer from cold hands, once you try heated gloves (Gerbing, in my case) you never go back!  :thumb:
