Anyone tried metzeler roadteck 01
« on: July 12, 2016, 22:25:32 »
I'm contemplating my next tyre away from OEM on the DL1000
Had the roadteck 01 on my street triple and they were amazing! Handled a track day and hard road use.

Considering then for my new v Strom but was hoping to call upon the advice of those in the know.
Ride predominantly road.

Many thanks in advance

Have a pair ready to go on the Varadero... they look like a very stable tread pattern that should be good for wet weather too.

There is very little information out there on them atm. I'm going to do a review of them when they go on the bike but they took ages to get the 110/80-19 size into the UK so had to get others in the meantime.

What little I have heard confirms they are a very good sport touring tyre and should suit the strom.

I've posted a few times about them here , I love them , the front is like the metz racetec same kind of feel I'd nearly go to say that they're as one but the 01 has a little more steel in it of which you can feel on a more coarse surface with a bit of weight on the front kind of like the bars are directly connected to the axle   , I've wilbers front n rear now but had the 01's on before that and coming from metz tourance they transformed the bike , I know the pr4's are good but the 01's really do have that something extra especially if you like front end feel , very hot tyre and quick to heat , to date I've 3600km (EU miles) and the rear still feels round,

Thank you,
I had then on my street triple and was so impressed with them. They handled my first track day in which I was oozing then hard on the brakes and through the corners. Friend with the diabolo cosso rossos 3s had nibbling and I had nothing

It looks like an old topic but I just wanted to share my opinion on these. I used Metzeler Roadtec01 for the first time back in 2017 on my Honda NC700X and I was very happy with them. A few of my friends actually completely switched to them after I shared my opinion. I have also installed them on my 2016 Vstrom 1000. I have very good experience with them as touring Tyres, handling is great on both dry and wet surfaces. They won the tyre of the Year 2 in a row, in 2016 and 2017.

Every one has their own preferred brand off tyre
I have tried every tyre I could in my 30 plus yrs of riding
And now I fit metzeler to every bike I own
Cost : good prices
Grip : on rails
Wear : great miles , two rear to one front
Wet or dry : does not make a difference they are planted
However everyone has their own preferences
I would never put Avon , Dunlop or Michelin  an pram
Safe riding and bring out the sunshine  :sunny:

Eh?

Half past two.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.
