Strom down
« on: August 25, 2008, 12:24:39 »
Travelling to Wales meet on Saturday. Pulled into services for a break. Sitting astride the bike, finishing my fag and studying the GPS when I heard a shout. Looked up to see a white van reversing into the space I was in. No chance of getting off the bike due to the camping gear on the back seat even though I wanted to desperately. The bloke who had shouted was gesticulating wildly to the driver of the van but it had no effect. The van hit my front wheel and knocked the bike over to the off-side. Result: scratches to off-side handguard, engine guard, bar end weight and pannier as well as a strangely shaped brake pedal. 4hrs in hospital and a broken wrist. Happened about 12noon and I got home about 8.30pm.

There is no truth in the rumour that I broke my wrist when I hit the van driver. It was the other one I hit him with.

To those who made it I hope you all had a good time and I'll do my best to get to the next meet.

I think we should start a common sense test for anyone getting a licence.
We would save a fortune on insurance if half the nuggets were taken off the road..... ###

So its true, smoking can damage your health although a broken wrist is not an obvious one. Hope it mends soon.

What a wank*r - the van driver that is.

It's amazing the dickh*eads that are driving round our roads, in the space of 30 miles last Tuesday night, there were several other road users whose piece of tarmac I was inconsiderately inhabiting, one DH on a rev'n'rip scooter I think won't be long for this world, not if he keeps on cutting up cars - doesn't he know it hurts if one fails to avoid hitting him due to his lousy riding ?
