Last October I purchased some of these boots from JS Accessories in Farnborough, all nice and comfortable, warm, dry.
Come the winter and heavy rain they started to seep in water, back to JS for an exchange, 'Sorry sir they have to be sent back to RST to be tested, to see where they leak'.
2 weeks later 'yes they do leak, you can have a new pair'.
Fast forward to this morning, 6 months & 6000 miles later. Riding home from night shift at 5,30am in torrential rain, they acted like a sponge, when I finally arrived home soaked through in various places, I removed my boots and poured out 63ml (I measured it) without wringing out my socks.
So this afternoon armed with very damp boots off I went to JS again. (I had taken over 20 photos of my clothing/boots as proof of how wet my feet were)
To the shop assistant (Young girl) 'I purchased these last year, exchanged in Dec, with the heavy rain this morning they are leaking again'
Sir 'Did you ride with your trouser tucked inside your boots? as this will let in the water'
No! I have been riding 40 years I know how to wear water proofs & boots
Do you have a receipt?
Yes!
Sir 'As they are over 30 days old they have to be sent away to RST to be tested for leaks'
Removing the boots from a bag I turned them upside down over the counter & some water came out. Woops!
Tested! 'Can I please have a another pair as I need them tonight to go off to work'
No Sir 'We have to send them away to RST to test them again'
Why not phone RST I said and ask them if they will exchange them for me.
After a nice chat with the lady at RST I eventually manage to get both JS & RST to see common sense and I walked away with another new pair of 'Waterproof Adventure' boots
which are now the new style.
As it was raining so hard tonight I came to work by car, so yet to try them in the wet.
Here's hoping my feet will stay dry.
I would like to thank the staff at JS Farnborough & RST for eventually coming to a joint decision.
