mra
« on: March 31, 2015, 10:31:42 »
Had bike a week now DL650..and I see what you all mean with the buffeting.I have standard screen on middle setting (I think) buffeting seems to be only at very top of my helmet at legal limit or just before..I've had buffeting on other bikes that moves head from side to side but not like this its mire like a vibration as if your helmets on spincycle affecting vision.So..I've got an mra on the way after reading in here I've had good results from  them before.I will stick with the middle setting as a start point..I'm only 5'9" so hopefully get the requiered result..I ordered the 16" screen.

Be very interested to hear how you get on with this screen.....

I've had a few bikes in my time and never experienced the buffeting problems I'm getting with this Suzuki.

And it seems clear that it is a HUGE problem.

Tested yesterday and its pretty much gone..in middle setting with spoiler one back from top..probly experiment with position a bit..was pretty windy yesterday but still noticed a huge difference.   :)

Glad it's working for you.

I have moved my stock Windscreen  to the bottom position and added two spacers (20mm deep cut from 18mm copper pipe painted black) to the lower two bolt fittings which rakes the screen back. This after reading recommendation in several posts elsewhere on here. It seems to make a big difference and a much better option than the hugely ugly and expensive Givi Airflow that so many people seem to favour.

I have also added the Aprilla Tuono mirrors (the good ones which arrived within a day not the nasty cheap ones which take weeks to come from China). They not only look  much nicer on this bike than the stock square ones, but also have relieved buffeting.

Both are highly recommended modifications but it seems amazing to me that a highly respected company producing what is a really fine motorcycle  hasn't been able to improve the design. The wind buffeting/windscreen issue seems to be a very real problem with this bike, causing many owners a very real headache, in every sense of the word.

It does seem silly to get the rest of the bike right and not the screen..I didn't like the look of the givi either..I've not noticed much buffetin noise from mirrors.

I have the Givi and I agree it's not that beautiful.

It does the job but at the price of not being able to see the 30 ft or so of road in front of you other than through the screen rather than over it - and that's with it on the absolute lowest settings.

Reading other forums most manufacturers have riders who seem to head to the accessory shops for screens, seats, exhausts and other things that are personal tastes.

What else would we talk about if we didn't have these?

Heh heh, well said Grumps! Buffeting is a rite of Vstrom passage!

The mra isn't much different in size to the standard screen..perhaps only slightly larger its the spoiler on the front that performs the magic and its movable between 7 positions to find the sweet spot not had any line of sight probs with it...I agree there's alway something to change on a bike..heated grips will be my next addition but I will wait until autum now...I think a decent oil cooler guard  would be a good investment...looks a bit vunerable.

I have had an MRA touring Windscreen . Suitable for all Glee models.

Currently the MRA screen is on  sale for only £15. It's absolutely fine, but as a shorter rider the OE screen is fine for me.
