(Luckily we got to see em in Sacramento on their final tour as I was working only a couple of hours drive away).

Guilty Pleasures

I blame Brockett's mention of Paul Jones R&B show for flicking something in my mind this morning.....
I and my brother used to listen to Tommy Vances' The Rock Show on his getto blaster at the beach Friday nights . My best mate and his bro would come down , a few beers , spot of head bangin'

Became a regular thing , we got a dozen or more sometimes . Got really interesting when the girls from the local holiday park started turning up...

Anyhoo,
43 years ago ( when this was going on ) I got my first cassette walkman ( how todays yoof laugh )..........and this is where the Guilty Pleasures came in,
Did I tell my Greaser mates I was listening to this ?.........nope, but the girls ( and one particular in her super tight Flick jeans ( Spelt with the I above the L spelling out ...well .. you get it :icon_wink ) liked it .. sigh.. good times,

It is also , in a fit of synchronicity , 43 years ago Wednesday that Karen Carpenter ( another "Guilty Pleasure " to my teen self ) died, so, this disturbing tribute . The band were big fans and also did a great cover of Superstar that is worth a listen

Could have posted one of her later ones where she looked shockingly thin ( she died of self medicated drug complications due to her struggle with anorexia ) but prefer this ,
