That's a superb version, really like that.
I'd never been able to grasp the lyrics, so I looked then up a few months ago.
The whole song makes sense when you understand that it's about a girl (with the mousey hair) wanting to see a film at the cinema.
Her mum doesn't want her to go, but dad says to go anyway etc....

Ahh , when it comes to obscure lyrics The Mars Volta is up there ,

When Francis The Mute ( where this track was from ) was released there was a lot of discussion on the forums trying to read deep meaning in the lyrics , especially as the "concept" album was inspired by the diary of a friend of the band , the eponymous and deceased deaf mute Francis....

The band years later said their lyrics are written one line at a time and bear no relation to anything written before in the song ....BASTARDS.....

Also 10 points to whoever spots who later stole the intro from this 1970 Quincy Jones track

Have posted this before , but always worth a listen , shame it is just the mp3/4 on yt , on cd I always hear another dirty buzz ,click from the amp or his hand sliding up the neck ...whatever.... delicious ... Martsch leaning into it

Hmm....Modern music is sh*t.......not like the old days..........Hmm

Yesterday at work on one boat ( performative " geezers " ..great bunch of lads

) nice to work with young folk etc etc...
But after the first 2 hours of drum "n " bass / jungle , I think I started to annoy them by pointing out the oe tracks their chosen songs samples had come from....

Anyhoo...not all young musos have given up , they are still listening ..yes this is a cover , you will have to look up the extraordinary live at the Filmore oe for yourself .....but I think Clapton would approve
