Hi - Have you tried connecting the phone to another wireless connection to be sure the phone is at fault?

McDonalds do free Wifi as do many coffee shops etc....

Could be worth a try as the problem could be closer to home with your house Wifi

I would try turning off security on the wifi access point/router and see if you can connect without a password. Remember to turn it back on again afterwards though. If it does connect then it should be fine once you turn the security back on again (you'll have to put the password into the phone though). This sometimes works with other clients which refuse to connect to "the bloody thing that's right next to them which everyone else has connected to with no problem"!

What security method are you using on your Router (WPA etc)? Maybe the phone isn't compatible with whatever setting you have on the Router

running "wpa-psk (tkip) + wpa2-psk (aes)" according to the router. means nothing to me but I have loads of other devices connected no probs. all I ever had to do was turn on wifi and type in the password. I can't even get the internet to work on o2 either.

Hm, google says the Skate supports WPA, WPA2 and WEP. You're *definitely* typing the password into the phone correctly?

(O2 internet connectivity is most probably down to your APN settings, as someone else here mentioned, which is something different to your wifi problem.)

Do you know if you're broadcasting your network's SSID? (Does the network pop up on your phone with a name, or do you have to type it in in order to connect?). If you're not broadcasting it I would try turning it on.

Do you have mac filtering enabled on your router, if it connects when there is no security then it's a problem with the password try changing the password on the router temporarily to just numbers to see if there is a special character in your current password that is causing a problem. I sometimes just use 12345678 when testing some things. Make sure you tell the phone to forget the network after the router password change so it re-finds it again and you can enter the password again from scratch.

Also go into your apn settings if you still don't have that side working and delete all listed apn's enter the o2 settings manually and save them and make sure use 2G only is not checked. Reboot phone.

Big cheese , if in doubt , factory reset and start again .  :) You may have changed something when you were mucking about in the foreign language . When phone boots up slide the lock to the right , press the right button on the touch screen to advance and the language settings come up . Continue with setup as per on screen instructions . Remember to set up a google account with gmail address and password if you don't already have one . Leave your APN settings until after you have set up wifi and then delete all APN Settings on the phone and manually install the correct settings for your network carrier .

An alternative is to go find an open wifi network and see if the phone hooks on OK . If it does then phone is fine but your router settings may need changed .

Just thought of something else , your router password will be case sensitive . Check the box on your phone to make password visible the phone may be auto capitalising the first letter . Just a thought .  :thumb:

Bought one of these as pressy for her indoors and as she can get lost in a car park I thought I'd pop a Sat Nav app on it. Put Skobbler on it for the princely sum of 1 Euro and have played around with it a bit and have been very surprised at how good it is. Well worth a look.
