Quick, take a photo whilst it's vaguely tidy and the car's outside.

I did have a nice big double garage, but new home only has a single so I’ve had to maximise storage options 😊.

Today, my temporary man cave arrived in the form of a large green metal box. I shall now transfer a lot of the contents into the metal box from the brick box, throw a lot of contents from the brick box into an open metal box and then knock down the brick box - before it falls down by itself...
As you can imagine it has significantly buggered the view out of the front window and the Mrs is not happy. Ho hum.

Progress has been made on the transfer from brick to metal. The old Suzook is going on Tuesday so I can then move the Tigger in, may need a bit of a ramp ? Acres of space so it's all going to go in nicely with room to spare.

This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.

So, for various reasons the garage project is going a LOT slower than I would like. However, I've finally moved 99.9% of everything I would like to keep into the container. I just need to get the old units and cabinet out, re-jig the electrics and I can knock the old garage down.

Hi 2112
The old man cave looked like a very good space, will the new one be the same sort of size ?

Just noticed that reply, yes is the answer. Work finally starts on the 4th of October by builder number 4... I've been let down by three and it's a common theme sadly as there is sooo much work out there at the moment. Brickies can pick & chose the most lucrative jobs and dump the less rewarding ones, despite agreeing the work, price & timescale. This will come back to bite them firmly on the arse of course, twats.
One did come crawling back after he got 'gazumped' by another builder on a big build, but I politely told him to p155 off. Cheeky sod. Pics to follow in due course.

After what seems like forever work is finally underway in earnest. The main cause of my subsidence has been discovered - insufficient foundations at the front of the garage ! This has been remedied with a very deep trench and a lot of concrete. The rest of the garage appears to be fine from the test holes they've dug. The floor will be raised up three brick courses (as will the lintel) to enable a flat drive as it slopes in quite a bit now. Just relieved it's moving along...

After some hiccups work is (slowly) underway. The retaining wall for the new height concrete floor is now built and the walls are notched read to be strengthened & widened (I'm reducing my opening to 4M). The drains have been lifted to the new height. Fingers crossed I might be in for Christmas ?

It appears so, I have a loft hatch which I can't remember having opened since I put the lights in some 23 years ago. I shudder to think what I'll find up there...
