'Shirley'.... used when you've been deceived and you want to politely defuse the situation or make light of it.

A UK trend I believe.
So how's it going so far then?

Just a quick moan. I went to Tesco a couple of days ago. Big adventure, panniers, top box the full works. I walked in with my flip front helmet open and was stopped by a young man (no face mask) who told me to remove my helmet. I asked why and was told 'security, I can't see your face'. I told him that earlier this year a man at Lloyds bank had told me to go in, with my helmet and a balaclava on. He couldn't see my face. The young man told me 'This is Tesco's'. What a prick! Sorry if I'm not allowed to use the word prick but you definitely would not have liked the word I would like to have used.

Anyway, I just walked out and will never walk in there again, that's the only protest I have. Has the world gone mad?

I'd cut the fella some slack. Just a minimum wage person doing what he is paid to do... When the day comes that robbers go in without helmets on is the day I'd get upset being asked to remove my helmet.
Taking your custom elsewhere is of course your prerogative, but I doubt Tesco will notice the resulting drop in profits!

Strom Geeza, This is a moaning old git thread. Ordinarily I would agree with you but on this thread The Doc gets  :thumb: because he was moaning about some little Hitler just following orders - and you know what happened at Nuremberg !

The new newspaper delivery person being ferried around this morning by a parent in a diesel Jaguar 4x4 thing....He doesn't walk between properties, climbs in the car and is driven to the next house.  ###
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

AND £4.40 for a pint of beer at the pub down the road. That's £1.20 more than I pay at my local.   :old:

Stopped off at Wetherby Services on the A1 last week. Even busier than usual.
There was a queue on the petrol forecourt. Unleaded £1.58 a litre!

Diesel £1.35.9 today in Wales. Later in the day it was the same price in Devon. I didn't notice the price of petrol even though I was filling up my bike. It's strange really that (to me) the cost of petrol is not important when I fill my bike but I always know how much per Litre I'm paying in my car, even though they both do about the same mpg ?
