MyPC will not load Youtube and when I search google and select the Google link I get a 404 report and no Youtube. I can get youtube on my phone.
PS Nothing irks me more than the Beebs love of DragQueen shows. I don't care what people do in their private life but I can't be doing with any notion that deviance is somehow "normal".  ###

Dave,

Start your PC is safe mode (it is usually a case of hitting F4 or F5 as it boots). Once in Safe mode, you should be able to run malwarebytes, that will kill any nasties in the boot sector in Windows.

Its all back and running normally now as far as I can tell. I removed all local links to Youtube and then did as you suggested above. Malwarebytes completed a scan but did not report any problems nor is there anything in it's history files.
I enterered Youtube web address manually and not via Google or Duck Duck search engines.  When it loaded I saved the link/address in favourites.

I think the malware infected the youtube link and altered the address. Then when Malwarebytes recognised it as a hazard and zapped it. So that when I clicked on the link, it led nowhere and therefore the "404 page not found" notice.

Thanks for your advice.

Yup, insurance is going through the roof. That said, it only cost £96 to add the big Victory to the tiggers policy.

Well, what can I say?

2023 insurance renewal quote came in at £124 and silver...
2024 insurance renewal quote came in at £123 and silver.    :lala:

I have a '09 650 V-Strom and a '98 900 Trophy with 10yrs ncd on the policy, although the Trophy hasn't seen any action for over a year due to a cylinder head issue (not flat) I've not bothered to have it taken off the policy... not daft enough to pay someone £45 for a six keystroke action to remove it.
Don't sweat what you can't influence...

It is effing cold here in South Bucks today! My central heating tried to come on this evening but Cadent turned our gas supply off this morning while they line the mains pipes in the whole road. Been off all day. Good job we have an immersion in the water tank as we may need it by morning if they don't get finished soon (nearly 8pm and they're still out there).

So....pissing down here and the neighbours BMW X4 horn goes off.
Not the alarm........the horn.
Water has got in somewhere.
He comes out , resets the alarm..nope.
Starts it..nope.
Lifts the bonnet...  can't find the horn to disconnect it....nope.
Goes back inside to call help.

20 mins later I hear a warble ........peep....peep.
The horn gives up.
Seems BMW can't even make a reliable horn.

Thank Fek.

Another laundry tale: A washing machine. A Candy "Grande Vita" - note fancy names do not enhance technology. The machine is dedicated to saving water and so tries it's best to wash and rinse with very little water. When doing a wash I add at least 5 and sometimes 10 litres of water. And I cheat by using warm water from the tap so as to not use expensive electrikery to heat the water when less expensive gas is available.  Anyhow it is the rinse cycles that 'do me in' because you can't rinse without a little more than a cupful water. After the programmed wash and rinse I switch to an "extra Rinse programme" and as ever it really tries hard to not put much water in there. So me being me always adds 5 to 10 litres of water to each of the three the rinse cycles. At the end of each rinse cycle the machine goes into 'spin' mode but and this IS the problem. It first drains the water and then starts to spin slowly in order to evenly distribute the load so as to balance the drum. It speeds up and slows down to repeat the process before accelerating to 1000rpm however when it has balanced the drum it slow almost to a stop before selecting a higher spead and THAT is when the previously evenly distributed load fals to the bottom of the drum and when the speed then increases the drum now being well out of balance slows to a stop to try again. After three goes at it the machine gives up and moves to the next rinse cycle. This, of course,  leaves the washing full of detergent. There will be a further two rinse cycles before the machine goes into final spin and generally does not exceed 600rpm. So the washing is still soaking wet and full of detergent. My prefered strategy is to go through one rinse cycle and then stop the machine for five minutes and then select a fast spin  which it completes very well. I repeat this three times to get a well rinsed and spun out load.  Laundry with one load takes about five hours. You know that old urban myth that 80% of USA PC screen damage is gunshot. Well if I had a gun....... ###

Top moaning there Dave.  :thumb:

My moan this week is with the Mrs.

I tell her to arrange with her cousin for me to pop round and strip her bike's forks and change the seals.
I've replaced oil a few times, but never seals.
Anyways, I removed the forks last night, left them standing in the garage and got the bits ready.
This morning as I'm walking out the door to go to work, I mention to the Mrs not to throw out a 2ltr pop bottle as I'll take it and use it for the old oil...
Queue her saying "oh yes, he said it'll make a real mess and to drain them before you go round"  :violence-smack:

Information at the correct time is critical.  - It takes sodding ages for the oil to properly drain out of the forks! even when you pump them loads.

Now I have to rush home from work, change into old clothes in the garage (in a garage compound and not next to the house) quickly pop the tops off the forks and drain them getting as much out as I can. leave them standing upside down while I throw a pizza down my neck and rush around to her cousins house (2mins away) replace the seals and hopefully have enough time to at least get the bike back on it's wheels rather than centre stand and bottle jack and strapped to the ground anchor.

And another thing regarding the Bosch drier. It is sold as low cost and energy saving. But  :icon_no:
When the ' moisture detector' decides the laundry is dry enough ( even though it is still wet)  the programme stops. Ha Ha Ha Only joking!!  The Bosch designer is so terried of creases and wrinkles that until the door is opened or the device is switched off, it continues to run, withough adding any heat,  for ten seconds, every minute, for about an hour. (even though the lundry is still damp)  So don't go to bed or go out before you can switch it off or the machine will waste a bit more energy ensuring your socks won't need to be ironed before you can use them.
What I really want is stuff I can turn on and turn off when I want and not have my life controlled by some poorly designed super intelligent pile of junk.   Hands free driving anyone?

The weather here on the Far North East Essex Coast has been dry and a pleasant  :sunny: 22 to 24 degrees for a few days. However, that is about to change with the forecast of daytime temperatures down to between 17 and 20 and rain for nine of the first ten days of July.   :rain:   I find summer waterproofs are always a bit tricky. Cheaper gear may not be totally waterproof  and at the same time non breathable  so I end up  just as wet due to perspiration.  I know I should 'splash out' , excuse the pun, on a super technical suit but the price tags alone make me perspire.

The Oxford Mondial Jacket is what you want Brockett, truly not daft money and it does just about everything. Huge vent for warmer days and the advanced fabric laughs at moisture, just runs straight off. Plenty warm enough with the liner in too.
You only have to buy one once.

For summer showers I use this, goes small and is stretchy so no flapping,so far waterproof  and breathable. A cut above the normal fold up items.https://www.adventurebikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle-gear/scott-rain-jacket-ergonomic-pro-dp-Hi-Viz/
Cheaper online though,

Following on from Brockett's domestic appliance rant.

My youngest Step Daughter's oven control switch detached itself from the inside of the built in oven control panel. We popped over to Lincoln yesterday after watching a YouTube video it seemed fairly straightforward, remove oven, remove top panel, find switch dangling by it's wires, refit switch AND bend over locking tab to stop it happening again. Jobs a good 'one.

We drove over there in my old Volvo, as it was parked directly in the sun I decided to tilt the sunroof open. When we set off home I went to close the roof, nothing happened. Still the sun was shining and the air con was doing an excellent job....

Further into the journey (Dunham Bridge) I had a call from my domestic appliance parts supplier informing me that my new door gasket was ready for collection. Yep our washer at home had sprung a leak.

When I arrived home I was rather pre-occupied with sunroof's, I did the usual checked fuses, checked google that suggested locking and unlocking the car several times, holding window switches etc, naturally none of these worked. I then found a post on a forum about closing the roof manually, this involved drilling out rivets in the motor and winding the gears. This worked.

Flush with the partial success of a mended oven and a closed roof I decided the seemingly simple gasket change should be next. I'd watched a a three minute video which seemed reasonable, I even disconnected the power.

Removal was a piece of piss, pull out the outer retaining ring, the inner one was a little more of a challenge but after making a tool to release the spring securing ring that came out too. To remove the gasket simply peel as if you were removing a tyre and there you have it.

It took me two hours to fit the new fecker. I removed the balance weight for more room, I watched and re-watched the video numerous times before it made any sense and even then I think it was just a fluke that I managed to fit the new one.

All back together and no leaks.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Walter Rohrl.
