LV sent an insurance renewal on my Bungalow with a jump of 33% over last year. I feel I should tell them to  :dl_help:

If there is a cheaper alternative selling the same or better cover then I would tell them to  :dl_help:

@Brockett is it because your house doesn't have a number, only a name?  :stirpot:

Asking for a friend.

and like a character in the 'prisoner',  still proudly is shouts " I am not a number, I am a name".
In the lst few years the Premiums has risen by:- 5% 10% 12% 15% and now 33% and yet as I consult the things that are not covered I am coming to the conclusion that I may as well not bother.

We're with LV Brocket & ours actually (& I don't like to say this  :happydance:) went down this year.
Only by a few £'s, but yes, it was less than last year.
My friend thinks you are somewhat of a liability.

The first time I renewed the insurance on my cars after my son moved away the insurance company said my premiums would have to increase because we have gone from a four car household down to a two car household. Some crazy logic that shows each car is available for use and therefore there is a 25% theoretical usage and is therefore given a discount on each one. CRAZY because I am still doing the same mileage and that must surely be the risk factor.
Reflecting on my house premium rise related above I also recall telling then my son was no longer living with me and they said my premiums would rise because there is an increased risk of theft and damage caused by leaking pipes etc. It seem they think my son would discover a burst pipe, when I didn't,  despite the fact that, as a retired person, I am almost always at home and he was working all day and away from home at least 12 hours a day.  :dl_soapbox:

I really didn't want to be the one who told you Dave.

Martin and FatRat sent a poll out to everyone except you asking why we thought insurance companies had it in for you. The poll had two resounding answers.

The first was who should break the news to you.

That would be me.

The second part related to the insurance companies and your premium hikes and the overwhelming answer was they just don't like you very much.

Nothing personal, they just don't like you.

You could always go wild for a year or more and don't take home insurance.

Went to the Scottisk Bike Show at Ingliston, Edinburgh, on Sunday.  £5 to park the car and £20 entry fee. No Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and BMW. What a complete non event. I won't be heading back there for many years, if in fact it keeps going. The only decent exhibits were the vintage and club bikes. Even the burgers were crap.

Sorry you had a bad day out DOG. It was the big four that didn't show up but from their point of view there is no need to have a bike show since almost everything is available on youtube and the manufacturers own web sites.

My local council has decided that in order to take some rubbish to the dump I must first go on line and book an appointment. 15 minute slots are available to be booked up to two weeks in advance.
Really!!! I suspect the local parks and lanes will get a lot more litter in future.
Local councils eh!

Madness. Our tip has no appointments system yet, but have decided not to accept ceramics amongst other items. Do the council think folks who re-tile or swap a toilet are just going to keep the old ones forever?  If there's no legitimate method of disposal, some people will obviously be fly tipping.

One of our local tips has had the appointment system for a number of years now, even before Covid, and it works great. Previously you would have to queue for ages, sometimes around half an hour, even longer at weekends! Now you can just book your appointment, call in at the allotted time, go straight in, dump your stuff and leave.

The other tip, no appointment necessary, but very rarely is there a queue, is a few miles further in the opposite direction but the lads there help you unload & carry your stuff to the skips, all done with a smile. Guess where I go?
