Think I'm getting old and boring...

Had plans to head out on the bike today, somewhere on the South coast, this would ensure I would get there with ease, get a free parking spot but we would both swelter in our bike gear.
Or... jump in our air conditioned car and be in comfort but this would mean an extra long journey stuck in traffic and then maybe, just maybe we'd find an expensive parking spot then take many hours getting home

Choices choices ...

Both meant we'd be mixing with the Masses, you need to book to get in most pubs, que for hours for a cold drink or a cuppa and struggle to get pie ....

Then I looked at the temp in my garden ...

No thanks , I'm staying in ...

Honestly it was akin to leaving a pair of drooling Labradors at the table with a "LEAVE IT" command.

Please note the lick-lipping of the larger older dog on the right, the younger one on the left is as clueless as ever but is always happy to be out

Is it just me or has the heavily advertised NC500 quadrupled the traffic ? I was up along parts of it at the weekend and it was rammed out with camper vans, high performance car groups (I saw a Lamborghini attempting to get up the Bealach na Ba Applecross road, hilarious) and just loads of people everywhere. I guess with foreign travel buggered people have decided to stay at home ? It used to be like a ghost town once you got up to the North coast, even the beaches had loads of people on them.

To Sanitise or not ???

I've just returned from a few days camping in N Wales and have been amazed/appalled about the lack of precautions taken by so many.
For instance, the campsite owners were cleaning the facilities very regularly but I only saw one person use the hand sanitiser when entering. They also had sanitiser dispensers by every tap dotted around the campsite and again I saw no one use them.
On the way home I called in at Crossgates cafe and despite hand sanitiser being placed right in the middle of the entrance I was the only person to use it out of over 20 bikers I saw entering, many of which would be in a high risk group, ie old, male, unfit and over weight.

Sage. Campsites are a much lesser problem as washing (usually) happens there and that's as good but I agree that the extra effort is often ignored.

On my trips (car and bike) I take 'sanitiser' with me and use it where material contact is made, other than thorough washing being involved.

Masks always indoors in public, often obligatory outside now.

Lots of concern here (France) after free-for-all holidays and back to work/school at the same time.

We didn't see that coming..........did we......

OVO energy

Fair enough they send an email on 8th September with an attachment showing my Bill for August. I see it on my phone and delete it. Later I log onto my OVO account ( I am a valued customer after all) and I check the figures against my own PC spreadsheet. I see the figures shown on my on line account do not match that shown on my spreadsheet.
An hour of head scratching later I contact OVO via on line chat with "Katie". After a frustrating exchange of "chat" it becomes clear that she cannot see my on line account but has instead a window into the data that OVO hold for my account. And they are different. I recheck the on line account and the data shown is not the same as the data that Katie can see. This is an IT issue which Katie cannot resolve. But she does say the bill is correct and I have no need to worry further. Like you go into a shop and pick up £15 of groceries and at the till they ask for £17.50 and you say the bill shows £15.00 and they say "no we have a bill that only we can see and that shows £17.50".

The sad thing is I know her screen is showing the correct KWhs used and the on line version is wrong because my spreadsheet agrees with the "secret OVO eyes only" version. So I ask what is the point / purpose of the on line account if the billing it shows is incorrect? Katie didn't know.

That happens in what I call reality Brockett.

July 2019 I sorted out a small pension that has come to fruition. Long to-ing and fro-ing over details but all OK so I filled out forms, sent certificates and international bank payment mandate. Long wait until my birthday again, no money or communication. Like you fire off emails. Now they are working from home, quite understandably (or not up to March 2020) so have to wait for someone to pick up mail and pass to relevant workers who aren't in the office.

Total unknown person replies to say "We have no record of your forms/application being received. Please fill in the forms attached to this reply".

My reply, "Err, have you checked Ms so-and-so or Ms so-and-so who dealt with it (in the office) a year ago?" I'm waiting, now another week +, for a come back and whether I can resend everything I did before.

Just when I thought I had it sorted.

Why fix something that isn’t broken and then have to fix it because it’s now broken!!! IOS 14 Apples supper new operating system has widgets coming out of your Donkey, which everyone is going to turn off, fancy new gadgets, which no one will use and new flashy displays which alters your view of everything, leaving lots of apps not working properly and our forum squished up and not fully readable!!!!

I vowed never to have another iPhone since the iPhone 7. It is a genius business model but I find that IOS looks dated compared to Android.

On the phone theme, I've been out of contract for a while, so Three have now emailed me to say that as I'm out of contract they're going to automatically move me to a "better" tariff in October unless I contact them. This "better" tariff is the same one I'm on now but costs £4 more per month...
