Aldi's bike stuff again !
« on: February 22, 2012, 18:14:33 »
Hot on the heels of Lidl's bike gear last week, Aldi have their range in store from 1st march. All the usual stuff's there, in particular the thermals are usually good value!

If Lidl's helmet at £ 39.99 was a bit pricy for you, Aldi has one at £29.99.....!!!!!!
Think I'll pass on that myself.

The touring boots are better looking than Lidl's; appear to be good value for £29.99
Wonder how they stand up to the elements?

My good friend has a pair of those boots and he is very happy with the quality for the price. Waterproof :)

Like the look of their windproof top/trews...and the paddock stand...and the boots....hmmm, have to skip off to Aldi on Thursday.

Have used these boots for over two years now and although quite stiff to start with have proved to be good for the price. Very warm and even comfy off the bike. Not had a lot of wet weather testing as I am a mainly fair weather rider....there I've gone and admitted it, shame on me! :shy:

Got the boots this morning size 11. Bit hard, but I will give them some time to walk in - did miss 1 gear change because it would not flex enought to go under the gear shifter :)

£30 - I didn't think twice. It is good value for money.

Got the wind-proof top and trews and a chest/neck/face wind thingy (that was value at £3.99). Excellent kit.

Tried the boots, but as usual my humungous calves meant I couldn't fasten them.

Got some socks too.

Usually by the time I get there two thousand bargain-seeking bikers have rummaged through the kit, leaving it like a tornado's hit the joint, unboxed and sometimes dangling from other goods on display nearby.
Today was diffent, got socks in my size, a pair of tight trouser-things and some windproof ones as well ...tested the latter already (wore jeans over them) and they work a treat! Nice extra layer, should keep from hypothermia on ST3...

Had the same problem 18 months ago, had to raise gear change lever for a while. They will soften and now no problem! :lala:

bought a pair of boots, well and truly softened up with some saddle soap, most comfortable boots I've had, anyone noticed the soles are identical to Akito, wonder if most of the bike boots come out of the same factory in China, at least Aldi admit it. notice non of the magazines ever test aldi or lidl gear, probably don't get any freebies
