Iron toes
« on: January 16, 2012, 23:08:01 »
Hi
my new tcx infinity boots arrived today. I managed to buy them for 179 so very happy with the purchase. In the box I found something called "iron toes". Piece of metal that you screw on the front of each boot. my question is: it is just cosmetic or it is actually worth having on the boots? what is it for anyway?
thank you

Maybe it's only useful if you're a super hero?

Dave

PS I guess like most m.cycle boots they are a protector design feature, keep your feet from harm?

Is this like a motocross style toe cap that fit's on the sole ? If so they are treacherous in the wet while manouvering Your machine backwards. Don't ask how I know...

Probably not needed for everyday road use, but migth be worth putting them on when you go off road?

I agree, I tried them on the bike this morning (without the toes) and I can imagine how they can slide on the tarmac while pushing off with your feet. The boots are so solid anyway that I will not put them on probably.
thanks

almost all mx boots have them.

Be warned, once they fall off , the boots will leak like buggery, because they also kind of hold the sole to the boot at the front.

THey are brilliant for dragging your toes and making sparks, if a car gets close to you, drag your toes, the sparks will make them whack their brakes on. Hours of fun. (don't ask me how I know)

Should nicely trash your seat if you don't cock your leg up enought when getting on / off the bike.  :bawl:

mine are"clever" because you just attach them to the front of the boot or leave them in the box so they havent got any function apart from spark making !!! I like the fact I know what they are for:):):)

Iron toes are a motorcycle boot part;
Iron man is a superhero;
Iron woman is an instruction.

Clear? Good.
No bike at present.......
