nothing is better than gore-tex., in my opinion .don't know if magnum have any boot with gore tex on it . my pair use some sort of menbrane  thing that work OK walkin/hiking in light rain muddy conditions. but they tend to  let the cold in around the toes area  after 40 ish minutes in the rain (maybe because they are old)
the bates ones are gore tex and stay dry even when riding in downpours...  I  also use  http://www.nikwax.com/en-gb/index.php or any other similar waterproofing products, as long they are  safe on gore-tex for all my boots and shoes and rest of my outdoors equipment  as well. Some of them work really well.

now gore tex get your boots hot in summer and  :haha: smelly feet

I wear Magnum for work every day, very comfortable.

A colleague did the 3 Peaks in these http://www.magnumboots.com/uk/boots/ess ... assic-cen/, that should answer your question.

Not got a £180 to drop on boots again should have bought them instead of the classic which although I said was not a good fit that was not really true they fitted for biking just not for hiking.
Been hunting around to try and convert a cm measurement into a shoe size but every chart I have seen seems to be different. I am swaying towards Bates boots as they do a wide fitting and half sizes. Tried a while back to get my feet measured in the shoe shops down at the local shopping centre McArthur Glen but not one of the shops I tried had the device for measuring feet not even clarks could not believe it.
