Spada clothing
« on: September 05, 2011, 22:38:56 »
My wife's been looking to buy a textile jacket and trousers. She's seen a couple of items made by Spada. Is this a decent brand? I realise it's towards the budget end of the market but does their clothing range represent value for money?

Best Jacket I ever owned was a Spada (I've had lots of others). Usually they are quite expensive.

Just bought myself the spada Adventure jacket and trousers nice and comfy and think the legs will be warm but not had a shot in the rain yet. Can't say much else yet as I have only had them on twice although I would have liked the zips down at the cuffs and bottom of the legs to be of a bigger gauge as they are a bit harder to pull than my old gear.

Have Spada trousers and found them to be good and inexpensive.

I bought Spada Hurricane boots a while ago for a very reasonable price <£50 and have 'paddled' many times in over the ankle water without leaks...
Only drawback has been the lack of 'feel' through the thick sole IMHO.

They are a warm bit of kit 2/12 hours in the cold rain and all I had on under the jacket was a t shirt and I did not feel cold at all, the zips on the cuffs could do with being a bit bigger to grip with gloves but I think I am getting it with practice (when wearing gloves inside jacket). The trousers seem to feel wet after you get back into them if you have been sweating they don't seem to dry out unless you pull the thermal liner out. Also for some reason there is a zip at the back of the legs to open the leg up as well as a side fold to open the leg up not sure why it needs both. So far waterproof yes, warm yes am I happy yes. One more thing I liked about this jacket if you look at most jackets my old one included the thermal inner always seems to stop an inch or so away from the zip inside add an inch at the other and you have a 2 inch gap were the jacket does not have a thermal covering and I seem to get cold in the middle when using my old gear well this jacket has a flap of thermal material that covers this gap it goes from one side of the jacket over to the other and if you don't want it it also unzips.
