Hmmm, I was just thinking I should replace my textiles as they are starting to leak badly now. Was thinking it's time to get something with Goretex that will last longer than a year.

Have heard good stuff about their Goretex stuff, but Goretex stuff is always pricey. Need a new pair of boots too so I might go back and get the ones I tried on when I was in the HG in Leicester with you.

The boots you looked at are great, and they last! I've had some people come in with older models from that make of boot that have lasted them 15 or more years!

No Zips on them, I like that, a troublesome area Zips on boots.

My current boots also only do up with velcro and I like the ease of it. You can get them on or off easily and the velcro means you have a bit of adjustment on the fit. Thick socks and you can make them sit a little more loose, thin ones and you can make them tighter.

I went to the Hein Gericke in Leicester today again to go check which ones they were and to make sure of my size. Will get a pair before for winter, they should last me 4-5 years at the least and if they leak I can get them replaced. I think that's worth the £220.

Also found the gloves I want, I have posted about them before, but was at MCA Leicester today and they had a pair I could try on. They are Alpinestars WR-3 gloves. Full leather, goretex and they have an under the cuff fastening which is very secure, they also fit under my sleeves easily. They are the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn and very warm.

They are TCX Infinity labeled as HG , and also in the sale @ £175 . They are fantastic boots , Goretex no zips and 100% waterproof . Very highly rated ..
Also comfortable off the bike ..

I bought a pair of TXC Infinity boots, sent them back after 1 ride, they were hurting me a lot. I saw these at HG today, but decided I'm not trying them on because they are too tall for my likes.

Have a ride up to Yorkshire, Juvecu, to the Altberg place: get measured and fitted for a pair of boots that'll possibly last even you and your mileage a decade or more...and see the grimness we have to endure up here, to boot (no pun intended). :auto-dirtbike:  :obscene-drinkingchug:

But but but, they don't have Goretex... And that link for those boots specifically say they do not have a membrane and that they will be cooler. I guess they can add a membrane if you want them to. I'm sold on the Daytona Alkons already :)

I ordered the gloves last night, got them for £85 delivered, that's a pretty good price.

If the Daytonas don't work out, these Alt-Bergs are the ones for you maybe?

http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/motorcycle_ClubClas.jsp

I've got the tourer boots with membrane, never let  drop in over umpteen years, warm etc etc etc! Okay. I'll shup up now!

You're really tempting me with the Alt-Berg boots now... :eusa-think: The new Roadrunner looks interesting.

I can't comment on Alt-berg bike boots as I wear Alpinestars boots, however I wear Alt-bergs every day at work and if their bike boots are only half as good as their military boots they will be a class act indeed.

I have a pair of the TCX infinity boots and also have the Daytona's from HG so can make a comparison.

TCX's I paid £165 after a little negotiation at the bike show and they are much more substantial than the Daytona's - feel solid, better padding, higher shin protection, thicker leather etc, and the sole is a thicker than the Daytona which can matter if your seat height is marginal.  They are more fiddly getting on / off though. The sizes vary a lot as well, I had to try 5 pairs in the same size before I found a good fit.

The Daytona's I got  direct from HG on ebay, they were being re-sold as a customer return (someone returned saying they were leaking).  I can see how these could leak if not worn properly but to be honest I have worn them in the rain for 1 1/2 long run with no issues at all.  Just to make you sick, I paid £21 (used-returned) direct from HG and were one of the best bargains I have ever had.  They don't come that high on the shin and need to be worn inside your trousers to keep them waterproof (no seal) so make sure your trousers don't ride up too high otherwise you will get wet feet first shower!  They are light and comfortable but as I say I don't think they are as substantial as the TCX's.  They are quite large as well for the size, but some inner soles cured that !

Personally I tend to wear the Daytona's for short runs / summer / with leathers.  The TCX's I wear more in winter / with textiles / for longer journeys.

Overall if you are paying full price I would say TCX's are much better value over all as they are more substantial and cheaper.  The Daytonas are light easy and comfortable though, so depends on priorities.

Hope that helps !!
