Today, after a 12:30 start (Superbowl) was new glove day. My Garibaldi Nexus Pro gloves finally arrived and are a nice snug fit. They are also the rare CE 2kp rating, the highest for gloves. Very happy with them and I'll do a write up when I get a few miles in with them.

Ooooo! I do love a Garibaldi with a cup of tea. Garibaldi gloves look good too and I'm keen to know how they are in a storm.

I went for my MOT yesterday which meant a ride over Dartmoor to Plymouth. It was lashing with rain and even though my temperature gauge showed 8c it hailed half way there. I had my visor open because I couldn't see with it closed and the hail was really hurting my face, I had a balaclava on too.

I promised myself before leaving home that I would ride over the bridge at "Postbridge" at 30mph but when I got there I hit it at 70mph (as usual do except in summer when there are people around) and flew like a bird.  :auto-dirtbike:.

The bike passed it's MOT but the front pads will need changing after a few 1000 miles, to be honest I already knew that and have a new pair already waiting to be fitted. I changed them myself the last time but with the rain like it is I will probably have my local mechanic do the job in his garage.

The ride out was fun until I hit a sharp right hander a little too quick for the gravel that I didn't see. The front wheel slid a little and my stomach turned for a second, strangely that doesn't usually happen, I think the medication I take helps. Anyway, I didn't crash but remembered the corner for the ride back.

I left Plymouth as it was getting dark so decided to take the A38 and A30 on the way home. The A road turned out to be too dangerous because it was still raining and I couldn't see through the lights of oncoming traffic so I turned off to ride through Mortenhamstead  on a twisty road with (I thought) no traffic.

A few more miles and I was presented with a 100m flood, I was in it up to the top of my boots before I saw it properly so not wanting to put my foot down to turn around (it was a narrow road that would have meant a three point turn) I road through. The water came over my boots so I got wet feet anyway  :bawl:.

Now the good bit, I was going to have a tin of soup with some toast because it was late, I was knackered and my back felt broken but went into the kitchen and remembered the roast dinner I had put in the fridge yesterday.

So, I ate while watching the Winter Olympics then slept like a log. A boring day and a even more boring read but I just thought I would help you sleep, if you didn't half way through.

2112, I do look forward to your right up on the gloves. If they are good then please let us know where you got them and the cost  :thumb:

Over and out.  :thumb:

So, today was a bit of a mixed bag for me. We picked my late mate Alec's ashes up from Northumbria Woodland Burials; he's been ready to collect for a while but his widow wasn't ready. We went up today, a few tears were shed and he's back at home for now. She would like to spread his ashes, but can't decide exactly where as they have quite a few special places. I've suggested she waits and when the time is right she'll know what to do. On a brighter note, Andrea has sold her mum & dads family home, this will generate much needed funds for her and her brother upon completion. We had a couple of tip runs today and dropped some stuff off at her brothers and her house. A sad but at the same time happy day.

I told my ex wife that if I died before her and if she was still able bodied, I would my ashes taken on a long haul flight to somewhere hot where she would really like to visit and dump my ashes there. This was to happen as soon as possible after my death.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if my ashes were dumped in a skip outside the crematorium but I wanted her to have a nice holiday instead of sitting at home, possibly in winter, crying into a glass of wine. Anyway, she is now my ex so my ashes will go in the skip now.  :thumb:

Bryan, it might still be too early to suggest (if you wanted to of course), but I've known people to spread ashes in a few places for that very reason.

Unfathomable love, for those who pass, lives on in the heart as long as the body persists. As does the unbearable weight of malice.

I'm unaccustomed to what you can and can't do 'freely', as spreading ashes go.

My brother accompanied my aunt with the ashes of her husband to a favourite garden somewhere in Italy. They had no right to simply discharge his ashes (as I assume it could be as popular as the Trevi fountain in Rome  ) so they serupticiously secreted them out, a bit like discharging soil down trouser legs in the Great Escape! It generates a funny image, I know , but what are the freedoms of such activities.

If you take responsibility for the remains of a 'loved one' do you have to say what you're going to do with them? Can you just let them go off a boat or cliff for example?

So how's it going so far then?

I think you need the land owner's permission to scatter ashes. It can be an issue in popular places if they're not scattered well, as it can leave clumps of ash which also may include fragments of bone etc where others may want to sit for a picnic etc. Am sure there was something on one of the news websites talking about this and issues it can cause.

Just don't recreate the scene from The Big Lebowski.

Last night, but it was a bit late to post when we got in, we went to see Ross Noble at Newcastle City Hall. Very funny, manic, scatterbrained, but funny. Not laughed that much in a while, zero script either - he just bounces off the audience. If you get a chance to catch him on his 'Cranium of curiosities' tour I heartily recommned it  :thumb:

Oh, he has a lady doing sign language (trying) to convert what he says, worth the admission by herself !

Ross said " I'm in shock" - "on the way here I ran over a baby ghost"  "Oh! wait ...  it might have been a handkerchief".

I like watching football. Before the match starts, I have no favourite team so I don't care who wins. However if see some cheating then I rather hope the team that cheats to most losses. I dislike any form of cheating.  Much the same for motorcycle racing and just about everything else in life.   If asked "what's my favourite (whatever)" I can't answer because I just don't have that sort of mind.
I am free of such nonsense.
As much as I have no favourites I am also free of hatred for things and people who just don't matter to me.
If pressed I'll say I like Jammy Dodgers but not grapefruit.
I've still got a few recorded NFL games to watch even though I know who won the superbowl this year.  I'll watch it for an Easter treat.
Football is of course not so much a game and a competion to see who can cheat and get away with it. But the real fans don't care as long as their team wins. to them a fair game is of no interest.  One day, people may realise that Party politics is just the same, but somehow I doubt it, they just want to see their team win.  lol
