Day before yesterday I got a call from my wife ....tap in the cloakroom is leaking.   So I drove over to her place to fix it. Seized shut off valve and mains stopcock added three hours to the twenty minute job. The shower also had a leak. The shower valve "O" rings are toast and they broke as I removed them. I installed it in 1990. So it hasn't done too bad. Do they sell "O" ring kits  NO but the company Aqualiser make a replacement cassette for it £178 but it had to ordered in. Today I drove back and collected the part and, much to my amazement, it went in without any faffing. 25 minutes job.
All's well that ends well.

I sound like a stuck record, but I really, really appreciate the kind words  :thumb: No one knows what the future will hold, but I didn't think this was on the cards. What doesn't kill you, etc...

Reading the last few messages is a reminder, if you live long enough it’s easy to get the impression life is actually quite sh!, but, it can also be great, and today I’ve had a very good day.
My youngest grandchild suffered a nasty scalding accident and has spent the last 10 days in the wonderful care of Sheffield Children’s Hospital, however today, I brought him home.
He’s doing really well and will hopefully not only recover without scarring, but as he’s not quite two, will also remember very little of his ordeal.
It’ll be wonderful having him home with the rest of the family for Christmas.

A bit early maybe, but Happy Merry folks 🎄

Today I went for a four mile walk down some country lanes and across some farmer's fields and came across this little church hidden in a field near Little Finborough. Thought I'd pop a couple of pics here. Some info on the church courtesy of https://shct.org.uk/churches/little-finborough-st-mary-ip14-2lg/

The walk back towards Great Finborough takes you by John Peel's former house too (didn't stop for a pic but it looks very nice).

OK but yesterday........ A White Christmas!

I walked our 'holiday' dog and snow flakes were falling at 8 am. A whole 0 to 3 cms of snow but it did snow on Christmas Day. Yep, photos to show it happened. My son is back for  celestial observations too!

So how's it going so far then?

No snow in Tendring yet and not even a frost. The wind had been westerly for over 30 days but has now turned easterly and  north easterly. November and so far December has been slightly less cold than previous years. I have my room stat on 18 all the time. I have consumed less gas than normal.  The North sea, like a huge thermal battery, keeps things cool in the summer and less cold in the winter.

I thought the best thing to do was to spray aerosols to promote it, now I'm beginning to wonder?  lol

You're thinking about the Atlantic doc..!
The Atlantic Conveyor hits us in the West and keeps us fairly warm.

There's NOTHING warm about the North Sea! I'm originally from Redcar, I have many years of first-hand experience! And we're on the same latitude as Moscow!
We used to go swimming in it!!!  :icon_no:

Confused as hell, but at least I know which end of a spanner to hit a nut with!

Today, I'm having a two day early birthday as we're off to Madeira for two weeks ! The house has been buzzing since lunchtime and I've still not packed my case for the silly o'clock start tomorrow morning...

See you all in just over two weeks time  :thumb:

@2112 - would be interested to know what the weather's like in Madeira at this time of year - I was in Lanzarote last week (about 500 miles south) and it was cooler than usual at this time of year (been about a dozen times to Lanzarote at this time of year so got a handle on what it's usually like) with a few brief showers and quite windy.

Today I received an email from Thruxton race circuit informing me that if I buy tickets to the BSB before the end of this year then they would cost the same as in 2025. I have bought two tickets to Sunday race day and hoping that my Grandson will be able to join me.

The last time I took him he was about 8yrs and I remember he really enjoyed it. I also took him to touring car racing at Thruxton but I know he preferred the bikes. He is 21yrs now and has a girlfriend so I hope he can spare a nice day on 16 August to join me for a great day out. Fingers crossed.  :thumb:

Just got back from Ashton Gate having watched Bristol Bears beat Sale Sharks 19-17…… and it was anything but relaxing.

But a win, no matter how ugly, is a win. :lala:
