Hello and welcome. My advice on buying is to take your time and look for something low millage, in good cosmetic condition, a service history and as many extras as possible. If you find a bike with panniers, a top box, center stand and heated grips you will pay a little extra but probably save a fortune on what you would have paid for those extras afterwards.
This bike is out there, I found one, you have just got to be patient and keep looking. One other bit of advise, look in the for sale thread on this site. Some of our good members sell the most cared for bikes at very fair prices and those on the site have a passion for bikes and the V-Strom in particular so if you are patient you can't go far wrong.
Great choice of bike too so you are already on a winner.
