Handguards
« on: May 19, 2020, 10:13:32 »
Hi all

My V-strom is pretty basic stock. I only added a set of Shad panniers and topbox. I would like a set of handguards though. Are the OEM's recommendable or should I go for an aftermarket set? Dr. VStrom on Youtube indicates that the OEMs has some flaw that needs special care ().

Regards, Lars.

The OEM ones are really just for looks and wind protection rather than your more robust after market ones but unless you are off roading and riding through forests I would stick with OEM.

I have the 1000XT and just can't see a reason to change them as I mostly road ride.
Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die.

I’ve used the standard ones, which survived a crash in Kazakhstan. When I renewed them I did the mod suggested on the Dr VStrom video to space out the left cover.
