Was in the same situation a 1.5" bald strip down the middle so just changed them for Battlewings but not had the chance to scrub them as yet due to the rain

I'm hoping to scrub my tyres in this weekend weather permitting but if I got caught out in the rain would I be in more danger because of the new tyres then in the dry,obviously I know roads are more slippery etc in the wet I'm more asking about the new rubber.

The reason you need to go careful with new tyres & 'scrub them in' is because when the tyre is made, a 'release agent' is applied to the mould. This is so the tyre comes out of the mould easily & some of the 'release agent' is left on the surface of the tyre. This makes the tyre a bit less grippy than usual !!!
All you need to do is take it steady to start with. Don't go to the first roundabout & try to scrap the pegs. Just lean gradually to start with & increase the lean angle bit by bit with each corner. In the summer when its hot  ) (ie tyres are warm, roads are warm,etc) it won't take long to do but at this time of year......
And yes, if its wet    do go even more carefully - they will take even longer to scrub in.

I've just had a battlewing front fitted as I'm told the trailwing are deleted now. Wish I'd known this before having the rear done in november with a trail.

I got told they'd stopped doing the 020's and I had to have 021's but the don't do a front wheel for the wee and then managed to get 020's anyway!!

I can't believe only four months ago( with my deathwings)I was in the same situation as I am now with a 1 1/2" bald strip down the middle of my bt020's,how the miles fly by.
Deathwings=10,000happy miles
020's=6,000 happy miles+peg scraping
I think I'm going for battle wings this time,I want a tyre that will give me the miles to see this year out.

Is 8,000m per year average for us strommers?

I've stuck with the 020's due to the fact my back tyre was bald but my front has life in it yet so I've just put a back one on.

I don't use it for commuting just for pleasure,and I like pleasure
