I've got 2017 DL1000, '18 model. And yes, the bike has wrong original battery. Me and many other users understood that. The battery installed in factory is too weak for this bike. I've just got a new one, the right model that was supposed to be intalled in factory, Yuasa GYZ16H. Judging by the price I paid for it, 200 euros, I can understand why Suzuki didn't install it on delivery. If you look at your original battery, you'll see that there is empty space between the top of the battery and battery cover. It's like that because it was suppose to take bigger battery. Original one was 11,8Ah and this new one I've got is 16,5Ah. I'll install it tomorrow.
Ah, and bike can't take acid battery, only gel or lithium one as battery position under the seat is not vertical.

Are the bikes  shipped without batteries and then the dealers source them locally and fit them?

Thanks, as a non-owner of this model I've learnt something new as regards the L8 Veek battery installation being different. Filed under reserve knowledge. Anyone care to post some pix, to guide those if they have a battery replacement later down the line? A "how to guide" is always useful to the uninformed and may help save them frustration / downtime.

I will do it this evening and take some photos with explanation. I should have done it two days ago but did not have time. New battery is ready to go in.
I hope it all goes well and I don't embarrass myself...

Just changed the battery.
Side by side, the difference is obvious:

The swap was straight forward. Everything is explained in User Manuals. I had to fiddle a bit with the cables as I have some accessories installed so had to cut some zipties. Then, I had to cut the foam bellow the battery cover as this new battery is taller so it needed just a little piece of foam:

The rest was just to put everything together. It's pointless to explain what has already been explained in owners manuals:

The last thing was to start the bike. I left the bike untouched for a week on purpose to see the reaction with new battery. With old battery, the Easy Start was not working anymore and if left for a week it would take 10 seconds to start.
Today, with new battery, Easy Start worked fine and it started in just one second.
So, everything is explained. Shame on Suzuki for installing weak battery on new bike.
